Job Overview:
As the Director of Social Service Ministries, you will serve as the cornerstone of our organization's efforts to combat poverty and provide essential support to those in need. You will oversee all aspects of our direct service programs, including but not limited to our food pantry, community feeding program, and rent and utility assistance initiatives. Your leadership will be instrumental in shaping the strategic direction of these programs, ensuring their effectiveness, sustainability, and alignment with our mission and values.
Key Responsibilities: Provide visionary leadership to our social service ministries team, inspiring and empowering staff and volunteers to fulfill our mission with compassion and excellence. Develop and implement strategic plans for each direct service program, identifying opportunities for growth, improvement, and innovation. Foster strong relationships with community partners, and stakeholders to enhance our capacity to serve those in need. Ensure the efficient and effective operation of all social ministries programs, overseeing budgeting, resource allocation, and on-going program evaluation. Collaborate with other departments within the organization to integrate social service ministry initiatives with Salvation Army programming, including connecting individuals and families to our Learning Zone and to congregational life/spiritual support. Prepare all required reports and statistical information for The Salvation Army and for funders, as needed. Assist in the preparation of funding proposals related to the Social Services Ministry department and ensure compliance with expenditures and record-keeping as required by contracted funding sources, including EFSP. Oversee Service Units and Service Unit volunteers Provide direct services as needed, demonstrating a hands-on approach to meeting the needs of our community. Qualifications Minimum of BA with LSW, MSW preferred Minimum five years experience supervising staff Minimum five years of progressive responsibility within the social services arena, including direct program management experience
