Posting Identification Number ******** Site Technician 2 - Upward Mobility Program Essential Functions 1.Performs building maintenance duties associated with various building trades and historic skilled crafts:
• Performs basic carpentry, painting, electrical
• Cuts and places forms for concrete
• Makes minor repairs to plumbing and heating/air conditioning equipment
• Reroofs buildings
• Restores, renovates, or reconstructs period or other site buildings, fences, furniture, and artifacts
• Monitors and maintains buildings
• Makes structural repairs
• Makes minor repairs to signs, picnic tables, and other site objects
• Assists site manager in coordinating plans for execution of projects
2.Performs all types of grounds maintenance:
• Mows, trims, plants, rakes, weeds, applies pesticides and herbicides
• Shovels snow from sidewalks and public use areas
• Tree trimming and removal
• Hauls trash
• Maintains and operates equipment, heavy and otherwise, vehicles used to maintain the appearance and conservation of site facilities
• Performs equipment and vehicle maintenance and makes routine adjustments and repairs to mechanical equipment and tools
• Applies herbicides/pesticides.
3.Performs a variety of tasks of a semi-skilled nature requiring normal use of tools and mechanical aptitude:
• Using manual or automated yard equipment including, but not limited to tractors, batwing mowers, front end loaders, dump trucks, snow plows, bulldozers, backhoes, tree spades, road graders, farming machinery of 80hp or greater and semi-tractor trailers with a GCWR of 26,001 or more pounds with air brakes for site construction and other projects, road repairs, or hauling and delivering materials and supplies
4.Performs janitorial duties:
• Cleans interior and exterior site buildings
• Vacuums and cleans carpeting
• Mops, sweeps and washes floors, sidewalks
• Cleans and disinfects sinks, toilets, and washroom areas
• Replaces toilet paper and other washroom items
• Empties wastebaskets and trash cans
• Dusts, paints, and cleans furniture
• Washes windows Essential Functions Continued 5.Provides support to the interpretive programs of the site;
• Assists with cleaning of historic artifacts, furniture, and exhibit areas
• Assists with interpretive duties and related maintenance, fabrication, and improvements
• Helps set up special events and craft demonstrations
• Assembles and disassembles tables, chairs, and booths
• Picks up litter
• Hauls trash
• Provides leadership to employees and volunteers
6.Provides for the care, feeding, and demonstration of domestic livestock in an 1830's setting.
7.Assists in implementing the safety and security programs at the site;
• Inspects public use areas for hazards such as flooding, fallen trees, and erosion
• Assures buildings and gates are properly locked
• Informs visitors of rules and regulations
• Assists in the rescue of injured or stranded site visitors
• Contacts proper authorities per Agency and Site procedures, rules, and regulations regarding emergency or disturbance situations
8.Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably with the scope of the duties enumerated above. Minimum Qualifications 1. Requires education and experience equivalent to high school graduation.
2. Requires two years maintenance or farming experience preferably associated with the building trades and/or the operation of heavy equipment and machinery.
3. Requires a valid and current Class A Commercial Driver's license with airbrakes designation.
Preferred Qualifications 1. Two (2) years of working knowledge of tools and equipment used in the trades and/or operation of heavy equipment or farm machinery and implements and/or warehousing.
2. Two (2) years of experience in the ability to follow written and oral instructions.
3. One (1) year of experience in the ability to inform visitors of site facilities, programs, rules, and regulations.
4. One (1) year of experience in outdoor recreation.
5. One (1) year of experience in groundskeeping.

5. Requires ability to lift, carry, and transport loads exceeding sixty pounds.
6. Requires ability to walk over rough and broken terrain.

OLM facilitates activities from small group interpretive programming at Historical Sites, to hiking, hunting, fishing, boating, and camping.
Work Hours: Mon-Fri 7-3 (May - Oct) Mon - Fri 7-3 and work every 5th weekend (Nov-Apr)
