As a world leader in aircraft exhaust systems and engine months, the company's core competencies include certified welding, precision machining and sheet metal fabrication. Additionally, is Quality Aircraft Accessories (QAA), a class I and II unlimited FAA repair station with EASA approval at the Tulsa location. QAA services and distributes piston engine and limited airframe accessories manufactured by HET as well as numerous other manufacturers.

The market request for full product life cycle support led to acquisition and integration of QAA as we drive to achieve excellence in all aspects of our businesses from the initial design, assembly, distribution and service. We take pride in our high level of craftsmanship, our people, and our facilities and make every effort to provide customers with full product life cycle support through the best product and services possible.

QAA operates a small, but growing location in Fort Lauderdale, FL which is strategically located to support the Southeast and Caribbean for repair and overhaul of engine accessories.

Key Responsibilities

QAA, Fort Lauderdale, seeks a Site Manager to provide leadership and management of the R&O quality function in accordance with all applicable company and U.S. Government regulations, policies, and procedures. The SM is responsible for ensuring that quality program policies, plans, standards and requirements are met and to ensure the highest level of customer service is provided through the MRO service arms of the business. In addition, the SM will be required to collaborate with QAA Tulsa leadership to support expanding and growing the Fort Lauderdale capabilities and revenue.

Key Deliverables of Position

1) Through collaboration with the right people, lead and drive continuous improvement for all facets of the operation

a. Direct the development, planning, implementation of lean manufacturing improvements

b. Identify and develop FAA/DER approved repairs that enhance the life cycle and profitability of overhauled accessories

c. Develop methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for projects, programs, and people

2) Provide proactive leadership necessary to drive, develop and monitor critical metrics.

a. Spot issues and opportunities in time to impact month-end results

b. Drive Labor Utilization and Efficiency through the facility

c. Drive profitability and maximize margins

3) Develop a cohesive and talented staff; nurture our winning culture

a. Establish and support positive employee relations and employee involvement to ensure teamwork and positive morale

b. Play a significant role in the hiring and onboarding of talent

c. Identify contributors with potential to grow and provide development opportunities

4) Team with the Accountable Manager to provide leadership across all disciplines to ensure that the Repair Station maintains a culture of quality, FAA/DOT compliance, and customer compliance

5) Build reputation and standing with customers by ensuring the promotion and awareness of customer requirements, lead the resolution of matters participating with the Accountable Manager

a. Ensure that the product output is in line with company forecast and goals to achieve 98% on time delivery

b. Prepare work schedules, assign work, ensure training compliance and oversee production activities for the specified value streams.

6) Have a process and systems bias-great execution follows from great systems and processes

a. Ensure Quality standards are being met

7) Work with other Hartzell companies to achieve operational excellence and benchmark best practices

Typical job duties include:

1) Evaluate the operations for opportunities to eliminate waste

2) Manage labor utilization and efficiency

3) Organize the shop utilizing the principles of 5S

4) Develop standard operating procedures and processes required to service the product

5) Facilitate, drive and participate in formal problem-solving activities to improve quality, reduce costs and exceed customer expectations

6) Inventory management

7) Supervision and oversite for the daily operations of the facilities

8) Manage employees, organize schedules, meet performance goals and other administrative duties

9) Responsible for Property, Plant, and Equipment

10) Liaise with Tulsa to ensure financial objectives are met

Requirements

Preferred Education and Experience

1) BS Degree in Manufacturing or Mechanical Engineering

2) Minimum of 7 years in Operations, Quality or Manufacturing Engineering leadership

3) Experience in aerospace manufacturing a plus

4) Experience in in a leadership position at a repair station a plus

Required Technical Competencies

1) Excellent verbal and written communication skills

2) Experience with MRO and part 145

3) Experience with Quality Systems (ISO9000, AS9100, TS6949, etc.)

4) Site Management Skills

a. Faithful use of Key Performance Measures to drive continuous improvement

b. Demonstrated ability to connect business strategy and operational strategy together such that investments and initiatives in the plant contribute to competitive advantage

c. Working understanding of financial statements and key financial measures

d. Technology and capital expense planning

5) Structured problem-solving skills to validate root cause and implement corrective actions

6) Proficient computer skills; (Microsoft Office, Outlook, Access)
