Full job description Signal Inspector - North Charleston, SC Infrastructure Consulting & Engineering, PLLC's CEI Team is seeking a dedicated Signal Project Monitor responsible for overseeing, testing, and ensuring compliance with client and contractor work on a variety of signal projects.
Position Summary: The goal of the Signal Inspector is to guarantee that all aspects of the project, including plans, specifications, materials, traffic control devices, and safety standards, meet the required standards. As part of this role, the Signal Project Monitor must be flexible and available to work during both day and night shifts to accommodate the contractor's schedule.
Position Responsibilities: Inspect and Monitor Signal Installation: Continuously oversee and inspect signal installation and miscellaneous concrete work to ensure full compliance with safety, plans, specifications, and all contract requirements. Provide Daily Observations: Offer daily observations of construction activities, ensuring that they adhere to project standards, and meticulously document these activities on the requisite reports/forms. Quantify Installed Materials: Determine and document the quantities of all materials that have been installed during the project. Enforce SCDOT Standards: Ensure that all materials, procedures, and safety protocols strictly adhere to the latest South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) standards. Material Sampling and Testing: Conduct material sampling and testing to guarantee that construction materials meet the quality requirements stipulated in the project specifications. Effective Communication: Maintain effective communication and interaction with colleagues and client representatives, fostering productive working relationships. Flexible Schedule: Be flexible and adaptable to the project's needs, which will include working night shifts to align with the contractor's schedule. Diplomacy in Difficult Situations: Demonstrate exceptional interpersonal skills, including the ability to use diplomacy and maintain composure in challenging and stressful situations. Position Requirements: HS diploma or equivalent required, technical college coursework in engineering preferred. The following certificates are desired: IMSA Signal Inspector or Technician, ACI Concrete and SCDOT Concrete Level 1&2. Must have math calculation skills, MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) experience. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds sometimes on a frequent basis. Current driver's license with a safe 3-year driving record is required. Strong written and communication skills required. A valid Driver's License is required with a safe driving record and must complete a pre-employment screening. Must be legally authorized to work in the United States. ICE is a drug-free workplace. The office environment is indoors, characterized by controlled temperatures and minimal exposure to adverse conditions. Must have visual acuity to recognize/change/add precise details on CAD drawings.
During fieldwork, the position entails moderate physical exertion, encompassing walking, standing, bending, and ascending stairs or ladders. The employee may occasionally lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds. Fieldwork exposes inspectors to various environmental conditions, including but not limited to loud noise levels, dust, dirt, and temperature fluctuations. Inspectors must adeptly navigate construction sites and conduct thorough inspections of materials and structures.
