Position Overview: We are seeking a detail-oriented and customer-focused Shipping and Returns Associate to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing the efficient processing of outgoing shipments, as well as handling publisher returns
Responsibilities:
Prepare outgoing shipments for delivery, including packaging, labeling, and arranging pickup or drop-off with shipping carriers. Maintain accurate records of shipments using computerized systems and manual logs. Collaborate with other team members to resolve any shipping or inventory discrepancies in a timely manner. Manage shipping supplies. Keep shipping and receiving areas clean, organized, and free of safety hazards. Manage publisher returns maintaining records of returns using proprietary software. Manage creating pallets of returns and communicating with freight companies. Deliver cases of books to events in Marin and San Francisco. Set up and breakdown in store events. Provide courteous and helpful assistance to staff and customers, answering inquiries about shipping options, delivery times, and return policies. Contribute to a positive work environment by demonstrating professionalism, teamwork, and a commitment to customer satisfaction. Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or training in logistics or retail operations is a plus. Valid Driver's License required. Previous experience in a shipping, receiving, or bookstore environment preferred. Strong attention to detail and ability to accurately record and track inventory. Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced setting. Proficiency with computer software and systems for inventory management and returns processing, including UPS Worldship, Dazzle, Excel, and Microsoft Word. Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact professionally with customers and team members. Physical stamina and ability to repetitively lift and move packages weighing up to 50 pounds.
