Harbor House is seeking a Crisis & Shelter AdvocatePart-time position with weekend shiftsResponsible for direct service to survivors and children
Job seniority: entry level
Responsibilities
• Provide education, support, and networking options to survivors of domestic & sexual violence• Connect survivors and children with an emphasis on community building• Solve immediate needs of shelter residents• Answer 24/7 crisis hotline calls• Meet the needs of walk-in clients• Conduct intakes and maintain arrest log• Assist with shelter maintenance and security• Process and coordinate donations• Compile agency records/statistics• Attend staff meetings and required in-services
Requirements
• Experience working with people in trauma• Degree in human services related field or relevant experience• Ideal for students pursuing a human services related field• Must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 or submit weekly negative test results

• Cultural competency• High level of professionalism• Excellent communication skills• Ability to lift 30 lbs• Ability to think on your feet and make quick decisions• Basic knowledge of computers and data entry proficiency• Strong understanding of trauma-informed care
