This opportunity is being offered by National Aerospace Solutions, the team selected by the U.S. Air Force to conduct Test and Operations Sustainment at the Arnold Engineering Development Complex (AEDC), Arnold Air Force Base, Tennessee. National Aerospace Solutions is a limited liability company comprised of Bechtel National Inc. (as lead company) and Sierra Lobo Inc. with teaming Subcontractors nLogic Inc. and Chugach Federal Solutions Inc. AEDC operates more than 55 aerodynamic and propulsion wind tunnels, rocket and turbine engine test cells, space environmental chambers, arc heaters, ballistic ranges and other specialized units located in six states. Many of the complex's test units have capabilities unmatched elsewhere in the United States; some are unique in the world. AEDC is one of three installations which are part of the Air Force Test Center (AFTC), one of six subordinate commands of the Air Force Materiel Command organization and an important national resource.
AEDC's mission is to conduct developmental test and evaluation for the Nation through modeling, simulation, ground, and flight test. Execution of the mission requires a large team of highly qualified and dedicated professionals from multiple technical disciplines to effectively accomplish the objectives of our test customers. Job Duties:
Under general supervision, performs and directs others in making a variety of ferrous and nonferrous sheet metal items for ducts, cowls, fairings, spouts, guards, shields, deflectors, and other new or replacement parts for test items, equipment, etc. Obtains necessary measurements for sheet metal work to be performed from blueprints, charts, sketches, verbal information, or by taking measurements at actual point of installation. Sets up and operates all cutting, fabricating, and forming machines and tools. Forms strengthening beads, joggle and double curvatures. Makes simple templates and patterns. Installs new or replacement sheet metal parts or items. Makes repairs to metal roofs. Cuts, bends, and flares aluminum, copper, and other metal tubes. Lays out patterns using bend allowance or setback. Does parallel-line development, radial-line development, and triangulation. It is a condition of employment to wear company issued PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) in accordance with supervisory direction and company policy. Performs other related duties as required. SUPPLEMENTARY FUNCTIONS: Participation in functional specific safety training. Basic Qualifications: Educational Equivalent : Must possess High School Diploma or equivalent. Specific Knowledge or Experience: Four years of progressive sheet metal experience, which may have been as an apprentice in the trade. Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance and maintain access to the AEDC local area computer network.
Pre-employment Welding Tests; Must be able to successfully complete and maintain Welder Performance Qualification Tests in accordance with ASME Section IX; 1/4" carbon steel plate (A36). All GTAW (ER705-2), double welded. Positions – 2G, 3G and 4G.
All Test Coupons will be evaluated by Radiography in accordance with ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code, Section IX, Welding and Brazing Qualifications. Licenses: Valid state driver's license. Communication Skills: Must be able to read, write, and speak English well enough to understand, give and take directions.
