Job Responsibilities
The Senior Reporting Analyst for Institutional Research holds a crucial position on our team, playing a pivotal role in our operations. This role, reporting to and assisting the Director of Institutional Research and Data Analytics, involves coordinating various projects and leading the coordination and fulfillment of work among research analysts. It requires significant professional interaction with academic and administrative areas of the campus. The incumbent will be responsible for collecting, managing, processing, and analyzing various data and composing reports and presentations for internal and external audiences. Discover Trident Tech! 1. Ad hoc Reporting. Serves as the lead professional responsible for coordinating and fulfilling ad hoc reporting and other data requests. Retrieves, analyzes, and reports data according to needs specified by stakeholders. Consults with stakeholders to determine data and analytical needs. Develops new (and maintains existing) data queries using SQL.
2. Scheduled reporting. Serves as the lead professional responsible for coordinating and fulfilling scheduled reporting. Designs and identifies reports for regular reporting. Coordinates routine data extracts such as CERS state reporting and IPEDS federal reporting. Design and develop data file structures for new reporting requirements or SharePoint portal maintenance. Designs and maintains analytics dashboards on various platforms (e.g., Power BI, Excel). Analyzes data extracts to verify content. Assists end-users, IS, and IT in identifying and troubleshooting data errors.
3. Process Improvement. Works with end-users, IR, IT, and IS staff to improve IR's information sharing. Develops new and improved existing reporting processes. Implements work processes that minimize requirements for data storage. Identifies, designs, and develops new reports for regular reporting. Coordinates with IS staff to develop schedules and workflows for these reports. Works with IS staff to design and develop file structures for new reporting requirements. Maintains documentation of work for the IR team. Works with Information Services, Information Technology, and end users to solve data retrieval and reporting problems. 4. Grant proposals and evaluations. The internal auditor/evaluator for TTC grants assists the Grants department with developing baseline data and measurable grant objectives.
5. Accreditation (SACSCOC). Works with the Compliance Audit team to determine data needs. Provides technical assistance and data for the compliance audit. Works with the QEP team to determine data needs.
6. Technical Skills and Training. Participates in available training necessary to support IR functions. Represents IR on college committees, project meetings, and professional conferences. Maintains membership in professional organizations related to IR. Provides training to college employees as needed.
7. Department purchasing card holder.Minimum and Additional Requirements This position requires a bachelor's degree with statistical courses and experience in statistics.
Preferred Qualifications The preferred candidate will have a master's degree in social science, business, statistics, or a related field and three (3) years of related work experience with institutional research in higher education, including demonstrated experience with the following:



Querying databases using SQL, Excel, including skill with formulas and pivot tables. Data visualization software, such as Power BI or Tableau. Statistical packages, such as SPSS or R. SharePoint Online. IPEDS reporting. The ability to work independently with limited supervision is a must. The candidate will have strong problem-solving skills, including the ability to analyze data and write reports for publication, exercise independence and discretion in developing and timely execution of projects with high accuracy while managing multiple projects with competing priorities. The successful candidate will be able to maintain a high degree of confidentiality of all data and information, write database queries using SQL, and design specifications for complex data retrieval from various sources. Skilled in assessment design, data management, and statistical analysis is necessary. This position requires excellent organization and initiative, collaboration, and working independently effectively. Learning new technologies and applications is a must.
