The primary role of the Sr. Rail Analyst is to manage any activity moving our products via Rail from our plant or from resale to our customers or terminals. The Sr. Rail Analyst executes processes from securing, loading and delivery of rail cars to our customers or terminals. Included is communication with plant, sales, accounting, outside suppliers and others as necessary.
Key Responsibilities:
-Schedules, tracks and forecasts shipments to our customers as well as to the company's rail served terminal locations;
-Assists our sales team in meeting our customer' needs;
-Find solutions via rail for the highest level of efficiency, cost effectiveness and optimal service
-Develops relationships with vendors/brokers/carriers/terminals to ensure smooth operations;
-Follow prescribed company policies, departmental procedures and sound logistics practices to perform logistics activities;
-Resolve supplier performance and supply chain issues;
-Consistently research and recommend new opportunities and strategies in order to procure more cost-effective logistics;
-Reviews movements for correctness and completeness through ERP systems such as DYCO and NAV. Utilize ERP systems Outlook & Spreadsheets to effectively track, communicate and insure commitments are met;
-Maintain accurate records of each logistic transaction as prescribed by departmental procedures;
-Make periodic review of status of each movement and supplier position on open orders and due dates, making adjustments as necessary;
-Will provide timely, accurate month end reports as requested by accounting or management
-Data entry as required for order tracking and invoicing;
-Work with Operations Manager as requested;
-Maintain accurate records on all owned and leased rail assets;
-Trace shipments as require and communicate appropriately;
-Maintain information which allows for the approval of invoices, maintains maintenance records for the company owned Rail car fleet including a maintaining a relationship with Greenbrier who manages the fleet;
-Prepares & maintains new supplier/supplier change documentation for data entry by others;
-Engage legal department/counsel to review contracts, addendums, terms, & conditions;
-Monitor, request, & provide supplier insurance certificates to compliance;
-Works to complete assigned tasks with a sense of urgency;
-Other duties as assigned.
Logistics/Accounting Cross Functional Duties:
-Participate in ERP training of new and current employees;
-Review invoices for accuracy; Make changes/corrections to PO's as needed;
-Work with vendors on invoice/PO discrepancies;
Create and maintain spreadsheets as required.
Qualification Requirements:
-A four-year degree in Business or directly applicable work experience.
-2-5 years' experience of similar experience preferably with rail movements.
-Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and customer service skills.
-Strong PC skills (MS products, Adobe), including experience utilizing the Internet as a resource.
-Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships internally and externally.
-Dynamic personality to work with multiple types of employees.
-Strong and diverse experience in all areas of logistics.
-Experience in expediting and negotiations in the logistics process.
