The Senior Production Manager reports to the Director of Operations and is responsible for overseeing day-to-day production operations within the facility. Their primary focus is on managing production schedules, ensuring safety, quality, and efficiency. Let's break down the key responsibilities:
Supervision and Organization:
Ensure that shift personnel maintain high standards of shop floor organization and plant cleanliness.
Enforce adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
Budget and Reporting:
Manage the budget for the functional area.
Generate shift, daily, and weekly reports on plant performance.
Staffing and Safety:
Ensure adequate staffing levels to meet production needs.
Provide safety training and maintain a safe work environment.
Conduct regular safety audits.
Employee Development:
Coach, mentor, and review employee performance.
Facilitate growth through team meetings, individual sessions, and training opportunities.
Resource Optimization:
Efficiently manage equipment, facilities, employees, and materials.
Lead a team of production supervisors and hourly employees during off shifts.
Quality and Compliance:
Foster a culture of excellence and adherence to GMP and regulatory standards.
Monitor manufacturing processes and equipment for compliance and efficiency.
Ensure product quality meets or exceeds standards.
Collaboration and Efficiency:
Collaborate with quality, maintenance, and engineering teams.
Investigate accidents or safety violations and implement corrective actions.
Optimize resource utilization and minimize waste.
Documentation and Metrics:
Maintain accurate production records and reports.
Provide regular reports to senior management on production metrics and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
Continuous Improvement:
Identify process improvement opportunities.
Develop strategies to enhance productivity and reduce costs.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business Management, or a related field.
At least 5 years of experience in operational leadership roles with teams of 20+ direct and indirect reports.
Previous experience in food and/or beverage manufacturing/warehousing is preferred.
Familiarity with aseptic and ESL (Extended Shelf Life) manufacturing is advantageous.
Proficiency in working with automated machinery.
Ability to work night shift and can adapt to changing schedules.
