POSITION
Full-time, 12-month yearly position starting at $27.61 per hour working in Facilities. This position does have a rotating shift schedule, which includes every other weekend and some holidays during firing season. Must be also willing to work overtime when necessary. This position is represented by the Teamsters Local 320 bargaining unit. RESPONSIBILITIES
The Senior Operating Engineer is responsible for monitoring boiler operations and determining the steam pressure to be maintained. They are responsible for regulating steam pressure and water levels. They must follow and implement procedures for plant start-up, shutdowns, cleaning and operation. They are responsible for tracking daily work performed. Respond to collected data and make adjustments to optimize plant operations. Operates and adjust feed water pumps, compressors, turbines, generators, coal equipment and stokers. Inspects boilers, engine turbines, motors, centrifugal pumps, and other equipment. Maintains cleanliness of plant facilities and dismantles equipment for inspection and perform maintenance as needed. Operation of gas and/or coal boiler system. Responsible for testing, maintaining, and adjusting chemical composition of water and maintaining accurate records of water analysis. Responsible for notifying responsible parties when issues arise. Must be willing to learn and operate the Computer Control System(s) for plant operations. The plant is equipped with a turbine to power a pump, presenting an opportunity to gain experience with the operation of a turbine.
