Description:
Aerospace Fuel Motion Control division is looking for a Senior Mechanical Designer with expertise in New Product Development within the aerospace/hydraulic/vehicle domain. This role will be based at our Los Angeles, CA facility.
Position Overview:
As the Lead Engineer – New Product Development, you will collaborate with global engineering teams, including Designers, Engineers, Fabrication, Supply Chain, and Test Lab. This role involves designing, analyzing, processing development, manufacturing, and implementing product designs and improvements throughout the product development lifecycle. The position requires leadership, technical expertise, and the ability to adapt to internal and external customer demands.
Responsibilities
Provide technical design, analysis, and guidance for new product development and product improvements.
Design, analyze, and implement product designs and design improvements in all phases of a product design lifecycle.
Lead efforts to solve problems related to product design, inspection, manufacturing, and testing.
Plan, organize, control, and lead multiple simultaneous projects.
Serve as the primary technical contact for cross-functional teams and liaison between Engineering and internal/external customers.
Create, develop, and guide the creation of design standards, technical documents, including Engineering drawings.
Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and coaching to co-workers.
Ensure standardization of design of products and adherence to engineering processes across multiple projects.
Proactively collaborate with peers and managers to determine key goals, objectives, and metrics.
Lead and participate in studies and improvement for cost reduction and first-time yield.
Lead and participate in cross-functional Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) investigations.
Required (Basic) Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in engineering.
Minimum five (5) years of mechanical and project engineering including design experience utilizing 3D CAD software in the aerospace/hydraulic/vehicle industry environment OR master's degree and a minimum of two (2) years of experience in the aerospace/hydraulic/vehicle industry.
Minimum two (2) years' experience implementing hydraulic product design and testing in a plant environment.
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship.
U.S. Citizenship is required due to ITAR regulations.
No relocation benefit is offered; candidates within 50 miles of Los Angeles, CA will be considered.
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering.
Experience in the Aerospace Industry.
Experience with 3D design and lifecycle management software tools.
Experience with hydraulic, pneumatic, or electromechanical product design using Advanced manufacturing techniques.
Knowledge of Geometrical Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) principles.
Experience with Design for Six Sigma (DFSS), Design for Manufacturability (dfM), Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA), and Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) principles.
Position Criteria

Proven track record of driving change and executing technology development plans.
Experience with cross-functional teams and project leadership.
Excellent technical writing, communication, and presentation skills.
