Senior Manager – B2B Strategic Relationship Management & Business DevelopmentGlobal Merchant and Network Services(GMNS) is the merchant network of American Express that acquires and maintains relationships with merchants that welcome American Express branded cards. Our goal is to be an indispensable payments partner to our merchants while simultaneously delivering differentiated products and services that meet or exceed their needs and drive revenue growth and premium economics for them and American Express.B2B is a critical priority for the Global Merchant Services business, and American Express, and this role offers a prime opportunity to be part of a strategic growth industry for the Enterprise. The B2B Product, Partner and Client Management Group (BPPC) within Merchant Services – U.S. is responsible for overseeing the some of the largest and most strategic U.S. based B2B merchants/suppliers. Our mission is to be warmly welcomed by Merchants and support their growth through American Express forms of payment including credit cards, virtual cards, and Buyer Initiated Payments (BIP).The Construction/ Industrial industry is one of the top 3 priority B2B segments, with high levels of interaction and engagement across the Blue Box including the Global Commercial Services, Marketing, and Product. Managing this portfolio provides the opportunity to leverage business development, strong relationship management, strategic thinking, and consultative selling skills to drive incremental revenue for American Express.Candidates considered for this position will demonstrate a robust strategic background, an ability to think innovatively, strong financial and analytical skills and the ability to lead in a fast-paced and highly complex/matrixed environment while fostering a fun and positive team dynamic.Specific responsibilities include:Business Development: Drive profitable charge volume and revenue growth by using in-depth knowledge of Merchant's business/ industry and Global Merchant ServicesRelationship Management: Cultivate and leverage relationships across American Express and the Merchant to identify and implement solutions to grow and expand share while ensuring premium level of servicing to dedicated account contactsStrategy & P&L Management: Devise strategic account plans to drive Merchant engagement, expand relationship contact maps, improve client satisfaction with the goal to grow profitable American Express shareConsultative Selling: Consult with merchants on how to capitalize on the fast-paced evolving payments space to bring efficiencies to their AR processesNegotiations: Develop innovative partnerships and negotiate profitable deals through firm understanding of B2B payments economics, profitability levers, and American Express assetsProject Management: Work with internal partners and seamlessly multi-task, prioritize, and act with a sense of urgency for in-demand merchantsQualifications Experienced relationship manager with proven ability to learn quickly, develop strong client relationships, sell-in initiatives and uncover new opportunities to grow AMEX revenueDemonstrate executive presence with the ability to confidently lead Senior/C-level discussions internally and with clients to influence decision making and drive timely results.Excellent influence management skills and the ability to work collaboratively across a wide variety of external and internal partnersStrong negotiation skills and project management skills, with an excellent ability to prioritize effectively and drive resultsHighly developed communication skills with ability to tailor messages to different audience types both internally and externallyDemonstrate analytical and creative problem-solving skills and proven financial acumenFamiliarity with financial statements: Income Statement, Balance Sheet and Cash Flows StatementPossess the ability to understand the unique challenges facing B2B merchantsKnowledge of B2B payments, experience developing B2B marketing promotions and/or experience in B2B Issuing organizations a plus.Knowledge of the Construction Industry a plusSelf-starter with a blend of EQ and IQCollaborative and enthusiastic team player with a sense of humor a plus Solid foundation in Microsoft Office: PowerPoint and ExcelBachelor's degree preferred New York City hybrid candidates preferred  Candidates living near major city with airports preferredRole requires ~30% travelEmployment eligibility to work with American Express in the U.S. is required as the company will not pursue visa sponsorship for these positions.Salary Range: $80,000.00 to $155,000.00 annually + bonus + benefitsThe above represents the expected salary range for this job requisition.
