About The RoleSchedule:2 weeks on / offPosition Reports To:Chief EngineerPosition OverviewThe Senior Long term Planning Engineer will develop high confidence mine plans based on historical performance and improve mine recovery. The successful candidate will also support the growth of members in the engineering group through performance review, training, guidance, and mentoring to reach their maximum potential.Key Responsibilities:Utilize mine planning and scheduling tools to create optimal mine designs and schedules.Develop and maintain the three-year and life-of-mine plans.Prepare the annual budget mine plan and support the development of budget operating and capital costs.Complete scenario planning analysis to continuously improve designs and sequencing.Report on reserves and Resource estimation, planning and annual MRMR reporting.Assist in the creation and implementation of strategic mine plans.Conduct economic evaluations on mid to long term development and underground ore zones.Implement Long Term Mine Planning standard procedures, guidelines, standards, best practices and planning improvement initiatives.Assist in leading the underground mine engineering team in a safe and efficient manner to achieve departmental and corporate business objectives.Mentor and coach Engineers in Training and Junior Engineers.Qualifications:A Bachelor of Science in Mining Engineering or equivalent engineering degree.Registered Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario and in good standing order with PEO and or eligible for membership with the PEO,A minimum of 5-7 years of mine operation and engineering experience in underground mine.Strong experience in underground mine planning, long term scheduling, and reserve and resource estimation.Knowledge of unit costing methods for resource and reserve analysis and of cash flow and financial analysis.Strong interpersonal skills, ability to influence and a high level of cultural awareness and sensitivity.Deswik CAD, SCHED, SO software skills are regarded as essential assets.Excellent communication skills (oral, written, listening).Self-starter and strong facilitation and presentation skills.Knowledge of exploration methods and resource estimation.Strong problem solving and 3D visualization skillsWhy New Gold?Highly competitive base salary, and a quarterly incentive programExtended Health & Dental BenefitShort-term and long-term disability insurance benefitDefined match contribution to group registered retirement savings accountRelocation Package
