The HR Legal Head for Citi's LatAm Cluster is responsible for managing a team of employment lawyers based within LATAM and serves as a key strategic partner to senior business stakeholders and functional partners in matters of employment law within that cluster. This role has a significant degree of responsibility and authority. The role sits within the Banking and International, Client and Legacy Franchise team and reports to the HR Legal head for that team. As head of the cluster the LatAM head will be expected to contribute to the development of the global team in terms of common approaches and issues and be able to report and escalate within the global construct. The role will be located within the cluster and the chosen candidate should have a license to practice law in at least one of the jurisdictions within LaTAm. Responsibilities:Serve as a partner and advisor providing legal assistance and support to business stakeholders regarding all employment & HR matters, such as employment contracts, claims of discrimination, and employment-related arbitrationProvide critical inputs on compliance with employment laws and regulations; provide counsel to managers regarding compliance with employment lawsAccomplish results by leveraging networks/connections, colleagues, and peers within the organization, including compensation teams, ER teams, internal investigatory teamsProactively identify, evaluate, and contribute to the appropriate management of legal, regulatory, and reputational riskApply sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practicesEscalate , managing and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervise the activity of others and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standardsManage with the team a significant caseload of litigation and liaise with litigation colleagues and country counsel in relation to country based litigation and handle directly complex casesManage a team of employees day to day and provide oversight, mentoring and general pastoral supportAppropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervise the activity of others and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards.Qualifications:Approximately 10+ years of specific relevant legal experience with some experience working in an in-house legal role in financial services; previous managerial experienceExcellent leadership, interpersonal, organizational and relationship management skillsProven ability to apply sound judgement while managing multiple assignments simultaneously in a demanding, fast-paced environmentKnowledge and expertise on specific laws, rules and regulations related to Employment & HREffective communication and negotiation skills and ability to build and maintain trusted relationshipsBar license in good standing to practice lawSpanish fluency requiredEducation:Juris Doctorate or equivalent law degree required------------------------------------------------------Job Family Group:Legal------------------------------------------------------Job Family:Legal - Product------------------------------------------------------Time Type:Full time------------------------------------------------------Primary Location:Miami Florida United States------------------------------------------------------Primary Location Full Time Salary Range:$170,000.00 - $300,000.00In addition to salary, Citi's offerings may also include, for eligible employees, discretionary and formulaic incentive and retention awards.
