The Department of Medicine seeks candidates for a Senior Finance Generalist to support Gastroenterology and Cardiology divisions. This position reports to the Finance Manager within the Department of Medicine and joins an established finance team that is flexible and open to change, mentoring, and career development. This position is eligible for hybrid-remote work. Senior Finance Generalists perform a variety of complex finance work, encompassing a range of specialties, such as accounting, budget, payroll, financial analysis, and purchasing. Senior Finance Generalists assume responsibilities that require deep analysis. They are distinguished by years of experience, depth of industry knowledge, and sophistication of expertise. Work is conducted independently, and Senior Finance Generalists are responsible for training and mentoring emerging finance professionals.
The successful candidate will be expected to perform the following job duties: Produce, reconcile, and distribute the financial reports for gift, endowment, local, and select state general project, task, and award combinations on a consistent basis according to University guidelines and the reconciliation schedule.
Ensure that all accounts are funded and budgeted monthly, that endowment projects are funded, that state projects are funded upon request, and that local projects are funded as needed.
Examine cash balances and spending monthly to ensure the optimization of cash management. Monitor project activity to work with stakeholders to address deficits or make worktags inactive upon completion.
Monitor funds flow and education funds to ensure payments are correct and reconcile true ups.
Provide assistance identifying funding sources and completing forms upon request.
Review and/or approve employee reimbursements, invoices, and purchase requisitions in a timely and accurate manner.
Establish, review, and adjust labor schedules and assign costing allocations as needed. Assist with grant administration processes such as costing allocations.
In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.
The expected pay range for this position is $65,000 to $80,000 per annum. UVA provides pay ranges representing its good faith estimate of what the university reasonably expects to pay for a position. The pay offered to a selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal equity, geographic location and external market pay for comparable jobs.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education: Bachelor's degree
Experience: Five years of experience. Additional experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
Licensure: None
Preferred qualifications: applicants who have experience in higher education, financial operations, and budgeting.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS


This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs.
