Department Summary
The UCLA Capital Programs organization is responsible for the planning, design, and construction of major capital improvement projects in support of UCLA academic and administrative clients. The Design and Construction unit of Capital Programs is responsible for maintenance of campus design standards, design professional selection and supervision, project design, programming, architectural, engineering, project management, construction management and inspection services, project budget and schedule integrity, and regulatory compliance for on and off campus construction and alteration projects.
Position Summary
The Senior Construction Site Manager is responsible for construction management of specific major capital improvement projects in Design-Bid-Build, Construction Management at Risk (CMAR) or Design-Build contracting methods. This position has responsibility for monitoring and directing the contractor(s) work on the project sites. The Senior Construction Site Manager is responsible for ensuring project schedule dates are met without sacrificing project fiscal and quality goals. This requires in incumbent to assume a broad range of responsibilities in the pre-bid, bid, buy-out, construction and close-out phases of construction projects. Typically, the site manager will be the University's named Owner's Representative in Construction Contract Documents.
Salary & Compensation
*UCLA provides a full pay range. Actual salary offers consider factors, including budget, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business considerations. Salary offers at the top of the range are not common. Qualifications Experience working on construction projects and three years experience in cost estimating (Required) Detailed knowledge of construction principals, building trade practices, and federal, state and local codes and regulations relating to construction (Required) Detailed knowledge of construction contract documents, project budgets, schedules and scope (Required) Working knowledge of public works bidding, procedures, and requirements (Required) Working knowledge of computer network analysis systems, e.g. Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, etc. (Required) Superior communication skills and ability to interact at all levels, lead meetings, and assist groups in determining preferred specific options, actions and solutions (Required) Ability to manage and work effectively within a multi-cultural environment (Required) Proven ability to establish and maintain effective and diplomatic working relationships with widely diverse groups, such as staff members, colleagues, clients, design professionals, and contractors on a variety of complex technical issues and administrative tasks (Required) Ability to work with a variety of governmental and regulatory agencies, e.g., state Fire Marshal, DWP, HCAI, etc. (Required)5-10 years of professional experience, including responsibility for major construction projects in excess of $20 million (Preferred)
Education, Licenses, Certifications & Personal Affiliations Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Architecture, or Construction Management (Required) Or equivalent combination of education and experience (Required)
