Reporting to the Assistant Director of Equal Opportunity and Deputy Title IX Coordinator, the Senior Civil Rights and Title IX Outreach Coordinator is a vital position to our work.

The Senior Civil Rights and Title IX Outreach Coordinator leads the offices response to reports asserting violations of the University's nondiscrimination policies, including the Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Policy and the Sexual Misconduct Policy.

This position will develop training materials for the BU community and find opportunities for further educational opportunities. They will play a key role in administering supportive measures and managing hearings under Title IX. The Senior Civil Rights and Title IX Outreach Coordinator will have demonstrated experience and ability in conducting trauma-informed intakes, composing clear, concise, timely and professionally case analyses, managing confidential information, and independently and efficiently managing a significant caseload.

Required Skills

Master's Degree and 3-5 years of related experience.

Extensive knowledge of the elements of proof for discrimination, harassment, sexual misconduct and retaliation.

In depth knowledge of the federal and state laws pertaining to civil rights, discrimination, harassment and affirmative action, as they apply to colleges and universities including the Equal Employment Opportunity Act of 1972 (EEO), Americans with Disabilities Act (Title II), Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 (Title VI), Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 (Title VII), Title IX of the Educational Amendments Act of 1972 (Title IX), the Jeanne Clery Act of 1990 (Clery Act), the Violence Against Women Act of 1994 (VAWA), the Age Discrimination in Employment Act (ADEA), all as amended where applicable, and other federal and state anti-discrimination laws and requirements.

Experience with problem-solving and conflict resolution.

Demonstrated understanding of and sensitivity to meeting the needs of individuals from diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds.

Ability to remain neutral and objective while handling highly sensitive and confidential information with discretion and compassion.

High level of personal and professional ethics.

Experience collecting information in a way that is both efficient and people-oriented (i.e., trauma-informed and supportive).

Well-developed oral and written language skills to facilitate clear communication.

Ability to draft thorough and detailed reports by applying logical reasoning to assess complex information.
