For information on Sysco's Benefits, please visit https://SyscoBenefits.com Job Profile Summary The Senior Accounting Analyst reports to the Accounting Manager and is responsible for overseeing the overall general ledger and accounting related activities for assigned Sysco entities and accounts. They ensure timely completion of close related activities, manage risk based on exception reporting, control reconciliation of accounts and records, and may include administrative/transactional accounting support work, such as ledger maintenance and data entry.
Position Purpose: This position is for a dynamic individual with the accounting department. It is important that this individual can handle complex accounting concepts, lead, coach and maximize the performance of degreed accountants. The ideal candidate for this position will have at least 5 years' accounting experience with a demonstrated ability to lead others.
Primary Responsibilities: Prepare complex accounting entries and exercise judgement in the application of Sysco policies for financial reportingReview and approve monthly and quarterly account reconciliations as prepared by the SBS Accounting Analyst and Global Staff Accountant to lower risk and ensure accurate reporting and ledger maintenanceReview and approve medium to high-risk journal entries as prepared by the SBS Accounting Analyst and Global Staff Accountant Act as the escalation point of contact for the Sysco entities on the balance sheet accounts assignedOverall responsibility for month-end task list, including BPC reporting packages for financial consolidation, on assigned accounts and entities to ensure all period close activities are completed on time and accuratelyPrepare and reconcile key deliverables for various stakeholdersProvide documentation for assigned controlsRegularly attend key stakeholder meetings to discuss open risks and develop action plans to resolveReview and recommend modifications to accounting systems and proceduresDevelops and performs analytics on key accounts to drive resolution, create efficiencies in reviews, provide entity wide visibility, and reduce overall risk.Responsible for understanding and applying the Financial & Accounting Methods Manual (FAMM) and suggesting additions and/or updates where necessarySupport internal and external audit requestsReview and provide feedback to the SBS Accounting Analyst and SBS Global team regarding Reconciliations, Journal Entries and other assigned tasksReview and approve SOPs prepared by SBS Accounting Analyst and Global Staff Accountants; ensure the accuracy of current SOPs and assist SBS Accounting Analyst and Global Staff Accountants to revise if neededMentor new SBS Accounting Analysts and Staff Accountants at SBS Global team on Sysco Accounting processes and cultureSuggest process improvements and works with upstream process owners to streamline the end-to-end processesSupport the Accounting Manager on overall team management where necessaryComplete special projects as necessaryEnsures adherence to department goals/metrics, Internal Audit reports, and SLAsComplete SBS Accounting Analyst responsibilities (as necessary and appropriate) Education Bachelor Degree in Accounting or Finance Experience 5 years Accounting or related experience Skills: Demonstrates the ability to analyze and reconcile reportsDemonstrates skills in problem solving, team building, total quality managementAbility to find & resolve discrepanciesAble to collaborate and work cross-functionally to solve problemsKnowledge of U.S. GAAPStrong knowledge of Microsoft Office suite, specialized accounting / finance software ERP Systems (i.e., Workday, Visual Produce, etc.) and data wrangling software (i.e., Alteryx)Strong communication skills #LI-JS1
