Senior Accountant
Private Vegetable Wholesaler - Salinas, CA - $80-100K plus OT, plus discretionary bonus
THE SIZZLE:
Role is fully in the office
Targeting 2-3 years of public accounting experience, CPA preferred
No travel
15 employees in Accounting Department, role reports to the Controller
2 weeks PTO, 2 weeks sick time, good benefits
SKILLS/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor's degree in accounting/finance or equivalent is preferred.
2-3+ years of experience
Demonstrate a high level of proficiency with computer hardware and software necessary to perform duties including Microsoft Office (particularly Excel, Outlook and Word) required.
Full working knowledge of all elements regarding a chart of accounts, cost accounting and profit centers. Must possess an understanding of debits, credits, assets, liabilities, and profit/loss accounts.
Working experience with Microsoft D365 is highly desirable.
Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with all levels of the organization and supervisor to resolve problems and issues in a timely manner.
Organized, detail-oriented, proactive, dependable, and self-motivated.
Ability to multi-task, work under pressure, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Core Responsibilities
Perform accounting and clerical functions to support supervisors.
Preparation of journal entries and invoicing.
Provide support to accounting clerks with Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable.
Recording and reconciling usage of inventory items.
Assist in preparation of monthly and year end growing cost reports.
Reconcile balance sheet accounts, complete adjustment journals as needed and submit back up documents at period end.
Responsible for completion and maintenance of general ledgers and financial reports.
Monitor and analyze account data, working closely with the production and accounting teams to produce complete and accurate financial reports and statements.
Assist with preparing budgets and forecasts.
Assist with the month-end close process and financial reporting.
Support Controller during the annual audit process, attending meetings, preparing schedules and providing variances analysis.
