And, as the first stop for new businesses in the Buckeye State, he is assisting entrepreneurs as they receive articles of incorporation for a new business.
What You'll Do: The Security Administrator/Special Investigator plays a critical role in ensuring the safety, security, and integrity of the Secretary of State Office (SOS) and its operations. This position is responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive security policies, procedures, and plans. This role collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to safeguard personnel, assets, and information.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Security Administration: Serve as the Security Administrator for the Secretary of State Office (SOS), overseeing all security-related matters. Develop policies, procedures, and plans for the overall security of the office, including election night security and employee safety education and training. Write and regularly update the business continuity plan for the SOS to ensure preparedness for emergencies and disasters. Develop and maintain a working relationship with building management, federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies, and county Boards of Elections to enhance security measures. Collaborate with building management to establish policies and procedures for security camera recording, monitor cameras, and respond to security incidents. Review and coordinate security procedures at the State of Ohio Computer Center for the SOS. Regularly collaborate with county Boards of Elections to educate and enhance security at the county level, conducting security assessments as needed. Access Control and Safety Oversight: Maintain accurate information and coordinate the distribution and collection of building access identification badges, keys to offices, and parking passes. Hold spare keys to SOS vehicles and obtain yearly Ohio BMV vehicle registration for the Secretary's vehicle. Act as the Safety Officer for SOS, providing training to Emergency Floor Coordinators on safety and security policies and procedures during emergencies such as inclement weather, building evacuations, and fires. Coordinate annual CPR, AED, and first aid certification, as well as conduct annual fire and tornado drills. Develop training materials to ensure compliance with safety procedures and policies. Provide safety and security orientation to new staff members. Incident Investigation and Reporting: Perform internal investigations as directed and complete incident reports as necessary. Visitor Assistance and Other Duties: Assist with escorting visitors and customers as needed. Requires travel throughout the State of Ohio and may require overnight stay. Education/Experience Required:
High School diploma
Minimum of three (3) years of related experience in personnel security and visitor control
Ability to obtain and maintain a secret clearance
Preferred:
Two-year degree in law enforcement or criminal justice Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Work independently with little supervision.
Effectively interact with supervisors, colleagues, and customers.
Exhibit strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Demonstrate leadership, professionalism, and sound judgment to maintain a safe and secure environment.
Follow SOS policies and procedures, as well as applicable state and federal laws and administrative code as they relate.
Interpret and follow a variety of instructions in written, oral, or picture format.
Use proper research methods in gathering data; gather, collate & classify information about data, people, or things.
Keen attention to detail, accuracy in work and organization skills.
Handle sensitive and confidential inquiries.
Proficient in public speaking and writing.
Technology Personal computing; Microsoft Office 365 – Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook; collaborative technology like Teams, SharePoint.
