Why does the job exist? This position will provide exceptional customer service, support program operations, maintain administrative efficiency, ensure compliance, and contribute to the overall effectiveness of the Environmental Health Bureau's (EHB) regulatory responsibilities.
How does it get done? Serve as the first point of contact for the Environmental Health field office Answer incoming phone calls in a professional manner Provide a welcoming reception to walk-in clients Manage various workflow processes crucial to daily operations Perform data entry tasks accurately and efficiently Handle the preparation, distribution, and organization of mail Maintain detailed postage logs for mailing activities Process travel vouchers as part of administrative duties Manage and maintain logs related to organizational vehicles Collect fees, make deposits, and reconcile all fees collected for Environmental Health programs Who are the customers? New Mexicans to protect and restore the environment Occasional contact with external Federal, State and Local regulatory bodies as well as contractors and environmental not for profit organizations Internal staff Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate will have experience in the following: Providing customer service to external customers, EHB Staff, and NMED Staff on all aspects of EHB programs Engaging and communicating effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds in a professional manner Handling EHB daily and online deposits, and data entry Demonstrating attention to important details, and recognizing the critical significance Minimum Qualification High School diploma or Equivalent and six (6) months of related experience in office administration. Substitution Table These combinations of education and experience qualify you for the position:
Education Experience 1 High School Diploma or Equivalent AND # of months or years of experience specified in the minimum qualification 2 Associate's Degree AND Zero years of experience Education and years of experience must be related to the purpose of the position. If Minimum Qualification requires a specific number of "semester hours" in a field (e.g. 6 semester hours in Accounting), applicants MUST have those semester hours in order to meet the minimum qualifications. No substitutions apply for semester hours. Employment Requirements Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License. Must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive a Defensive Driving Course certificate as a condition of continued employment.
Working Conditions Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage. Some sitting, standing, bending and reaching may be required.
