Under the direction of the Operations Director, is responsible for leading the development, operations, and supervision of the Day Camp. We are welcoming: we are open to all. Report directly to the branch Operations Director on behalf of the Y&FS department. Direct and supervise summer day camp leadership staff and counselors; communicates organizational needs, oversees employees' performance, provides guidance identifies developmental needs and manage the reciprocal relationship between staff and organization. Directs, manages, and coordinates all aspects of summer day camp for the branch. will be preparing for summer camp, staff recruitment, program set up, training, booking field trips, staff development. During the summer this role will be solely responsible for operations of the Summer Camp program, training, hiring, staff management, and daily implementation. Develop and implement high-quality childcare curricula and activities for students of various ages and developmental stages. Develop and maintain a positive summer camp team with other staff working toward the same goals and with a vision of offering high-quality, high-value programs for members and participants. Directly recruit, train, supervise, and develop part-time staff and volunteers in partnership with the Human Resource department and the Association Director of Y & FS Programs and Quality. Organize and schedule program registrations for Day Camp. Assures compliance with state and local regulations as they relate to childcare. Ensures that program standards are met, and safety procedures followed. Secure, monitor, and oversee transportation of participants on field trips. Provide staff feedback to ensure the highest quality of staff is in place and adding value to childcare programs. Communicate and partner with the Association Director of Y&FS Programs and Quality as a resource for program and staffing support, curriculum development, staff development, and training efforts, program growth initiatives, and staff/participant engagement and retention. Coordinate the use of branch facilities for daily activities. Secure facilities and admission for field trips and events. Purchase and maintain materials and supplies for Day Camp Program, including snacks. Develop and monitor program budget to meet fiscal objectives. Participate in the Association Y&F AOC meeting as a representative to the branch. Promote and incorporate the YMCA's four core values (caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility) and character development model into all program activities. Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with other community organizations. Responsible for promoting and overseeing Youth& Family Services programs within the branch, in conjunction with branch marketing and promotion plans. Establish new program activities and expand program within the community in accordance with the Association and branch strategic plans. Participation in seasonal reviews with executive leadership examining and evaluating departmental progress, growth, staffing, results, goals, and personal application of YMCA of Greenville Leadership Attributes. Other Expectations Adhere to policies related to boundaries with consumers. Attend/complete required abuse risk management training. Adhere to procedures related to managing high-risk activities and supervising consumers. Follow mandated reporting requirements. Adhere to job specific abuse risk management responsibilities. Follow employees and volunteers screening requirements and use screening instruments to screen for abuse risk. Provide employees and volunteers with ongoing supervision and training related to abuse risk. Provide employees and volunteers with regular feedback regarding their boundaries with consumers. Require employees and volunteers to adhere to policies and procedures related to abuse risk. Respond quickly to policy and procedure violations using the organization's progressive disciplinary procedures. Respond seriously and confidentially to reports of suspicious and inappropriate behaviors. Follow mandated reporting requirements. Bachelor's degree in education, early childhood, recreation, and human services with at least four years of related supervisory experience in school-aged childcare, teen programming, and/or day camping. Equivalent degree and experience will be considered. Knowledge of childcare licensing requirements, YMCA standards for day camps. Must have good interpersonal, public relations and communications skills, including the ability to make oral presentations. Skills in staff and volunteer supervision, values education, community program development, and fundraising. Must be able to drive a bus. Must be at least 20 years old to drive a bus. Ability to respond to safety and emergency situations. Incumbents must complete mandatory training in New Staff Orientation, BBP/Child Abuse Prevention and CPR/1 st Aid/AED training within 30 days of employment.
