**MUST BE DESIGNATED AS A FELLOWSHIP FINALIST TO BE APPLY** Social Solutions International is seeking applicants to serve as Science for Development Fellows (SDF) in support of United States Agency for International Developments (USAID) SDF program. Duties and Responsibilities: SDF Fellows will be expected to participate in activities that benefit from scientific and technical (S&T) inputs, such as:
Provide expert technical support and research to USAID with regards to studies, analyses, data, and systems across a wide array of development-relevant subject areas. Plan program and development assistance activities in accordance with USAID standards, including advising on the preparation of statements of work and other documents. Monitor and support the implementation of program and development assistance activities, with emphasis on identifying constraints, issues, logistical needs, and dependencies of specific inputs. Plan and participate in program assessments, research activities, and evaluations. Assist in planning, monitoring, coordinating, and reporting on program activities to ensure that activities are efficiently and effectively implemented in a manner that achieves the objectives of USAID. Provide USAID operating units with technical, administrative, communication, and programmatic support as permissible. Advise on priorities for strategic development programming efforts. Conduct analyses of development indicators and trends to support program design and strategy development. Provide technical advice on the feasibility, appropriateness, and value of proposed changes in development and humanitarian assistance activities. Prepare and present program reports, success stories, and other reporting and communications materials. Support USAID in our coordination with other donors, HEIs, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), civil society groups, the private sector, government officials, and the military. Participate in professional development activities that strengthen the Science for Development Fellows' ability to perform technical work on behalf of the USAID operating unit. *Applicant must be a US citizen *This position may require international and/or domestic travel. *Applicant must be able to obtain and maintain either a Secret clearance or a USAID issued FAC prior to start (level to be determined upon final USAID host office placement). *All male fellowship applicants must confirm that they have registered for Selective Service, as required of male citizens of the U.S. Government. Experience Excellent scientific and technology research, technical or clinical training and expertise. Individuals with 0 to 10 years of experience following receipt of a Doctorate degree (or Masters of Science in engineering).
Education Qualifying doctorate degree in a STEMM discipline (science, technology, engineering, math, medicine, including social sciences), or a Master's of Science in an engineering discipline, such as such as biomedical engineering, electrical and software engineering, environmental engineering, industrial, etc.
*The qualifying degree must be completed by 11:59 p.m. (ET) on June 1, 2024. This includes any elements required for completion of the degree, such as submission of final thesis text and sign-off from doctoral committee members. Proof of completion is required. Qualifying disciplines include:
Computer and Data Sciences (including artificial intelligence, bioinformatics, cybersecurity, data analytics) Engineering (for example, civil engineering, biomedical engineering, atmospheric sciences, environmental engineering, materials science engineering) Interdisciplinary Sciences (such as climate science, environmental science, geography, international relations, oceanography, urban policy or planning) Life Sciences (including agriculture, biology, botany, ecology) Mathematical Sciences (for example, astronomy, pure and applied mathematics, statistics) Physical Sciences (such as chemistry, earth sciences, hydrology, physics) Public Health and Medicine (including dentistry, nursing, pharmacy, veterinary medicine) Social Sciences (for example anthropology, economics, linguistics, political science, psychology, sociology) Social Solutions offers competitive salaries and comprehensive benefits.
