The NanoPort team, within the Sales and Service Division Organization, runs a pioneering electron microscopy lab, supporting Thermo Fisher Scientific's account managers and external customers. Key elements of the teams' success include the following:
Carefully prepare product and workflow demonstrations, based with a solid understanding of customers' application needs, providing evidence of our outstanding value and solution in a highly driven market. Provide customer applications training and support, allowing users to reach the best possible results and value from their instruments in the shortest possible time. How will you make an impact? The Applications Scientist team is responsible for providing technical expertise in the support of our Americas sales efforts at specific customer sites. This position is ideal for an expert technologist wanting to be involved with a diverse team and exposed to a constant variety of customer application areas.
What will you do? Perform high quality DualBeam and SEM product demonstrations, including the development of new techniques and applications for Thermo Fisher Scientific partners and customers, particularly those in the Life Sciences marketplace. Conduct customer training and translate customer needs into workable solutions. Technical product guide assisting with all phases of the sales cycle. build positive customer relationships and act as a high-level customer interface for specific instrument/applications issues. explain advanced technology details, giving in depth technical presentations and assisting in applications development. Customer support and applications training post sales cycle and after instrument has been installed. Provide continuous feedback to the product groups on system performance, features, and potential problems while collaborating with marketing/development groups on future product developments. How Will You Get Here? Education: University degree in Life Sciences, Materials Science, Chemistry and or Physics is required. An advanced degree is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: Typically requires a University degree in Life Sciences, Chemistry and or Materials Science, an advanced degree is preferred. Bachelor's degree is required. Knowledge and recent hands-on experience with SDB are required. 5 years of demonstrated ability in a relevant position within the research environment with recent experience using DualBeam technology. Strong interest in volume data acquisition, CryoEM or fluorescence microscopy would be a plus! Knowledge of advanced technology diagnostics and troubleshooting techniques, specifically, electron/ion microscopes. Strong interpersonal and communication skills tailored for a diverse audience are essential for this position. Excellent customer interfacing skills a must! Consistent record to work well with cross-functional and cross-cultural diverse teams. Ability to travel both domestically and internationally (up to 50%), possession of a valid passport.
