Location/Division Specific Information The Scientist III (Madison, WI) reports to the Sr. Manager, Manufacturing and Operations (Madison, WI) and is a key partner in the services and manufacturing and operations team, giving to an organization of approximately 20 employees and $7M+ product and service revenue. This person provides technical expertise, and executes projects and work orders of a portfolio of >350 cellular products and services used by drug discovery customers. This person will also support growth through the development and execution of custom service projects, new service initiatives, and continuous improvement by application of our Practical Process Improvement (PPI) business system.
Discover Impactful Work: The Scientist III functions as a technical leader and scientist for an operations team responsible for cell-based products and services.  This individual will be expected to apply technical expertise and a strong understanding of cellular biology to make significant contributions to daily business execution and strategic decision-making. The Scientist III is a critical part of a Technical Leadership Team and will drive the business to ensure products and services exceed customers' expectations. This person will perform assays, product functional QC, and critically troubleshoot process challenges and atypical results. The position requires attention to detail with the ability to lead multiple projects and prioritize accordingly.  The Scientist III is a role model leader that adheres to the regulations of our Quality Management System and drives continuous improvement strategies while supporting the growth and development of all group members.

Demonstrate leadership by communicating a solution-minded approach to solving complex problems. Understand and implement existing services & manufacturing processes and support troubleshooting as needed by designing & performing experiments, interpreting results, and supporting corrective actions. Work with customers and internal partners, using creativity and critical thinking to evaluate, develop, and execute custom cell-based protocols.  Use thought leadership to conceptualize, document, and conduct assay protocols to deliver high-quality data to customers.  Support development and establishment of new service and manufacturing initiatives. Support cell-based product manufacturing through problem-solving and the development of innovative solutions. Consistently act as a role model through positive and productive influence. Maintain a high degree of integrity through internal and external customer interaction.  Collaborate within cross-functional teams and with customers to drive new service initiatives, supporting customer collaborations, and execution of service projects.     Support the Quality Management System through Good Documentation Practices and maintain processes for service and manufacturing records, SOPs, and new documents to support new or changing processes. Initiate major changes and use reporting processes for CAPA/root cause analysis. Drive a culture of continuous improvement.  Find opportunities to improve and execute on process development. Work independently and prioritize accordingly to achieve tasks.  Exhibit good time management skills to handle multiple projects across numerous technologies ensuring project completion within the allotted timeframe. Accept the role of a Technical Coach, demonstrating strong emotional intelligence and leadership as you develop others using your technical subject matter expertise. Keys to Success: Education Requires a Bachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, or other related subject area, or equivalent knowledge and experience.  An advanced degree is a plus. Requires 5+ years of laboratory experience with a BS or MS degree, or 2+ years with a PhD Experience with adherent and suspension cell cultures, preferably mammalian and insect backgrounds. Cell culture experience a plus Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
Strong leadership and decision-making ability. Experience with adherent and suspension cell cultures, preferably mammalian and insect backgrounds Familiarity with ISO-9001 Guidelines Experience with high-throughput screening, fluorescence-based assays, and drug discovery in the life science industry is preferred. Familiarity with compound library screening and CRISPR technology Working Conditions
