Stanford University Department of Biomedical Data Science in Dr. Klein's lab is seeking an in-person (hybrid) Scientific Curator 1 for the Gecko group (Gene Curation & Knowledge) focused on PGx activities. This position works as part of a team of scientific curators to build and maintain the world's largest collection of pharmacogenomics information. This person will collect and analyze pharmacogenomics information from scientific literature and other sources. This person is responsible for accurately and efficiently abstracting information in the required format, writing educated summaries of pharmacogenomics findings, and integrating and analyzing the collected data to inform pharmacogenomic associations and recommendations. This person will contribute to manuscripts for peer-reviewed publication and help develop clinical content for new applications. The Scientific Curator must have the ability to understand and/or become familiar with the scientific literature, experimental procedures and their limitations, and the needs of the pharmacogenomics research community.
Duties include:
• Collect and analyze information from peer-reviewed scientific journals, regulatory agency-approved drug labels and other sources; abstract data into the required format and verify them for accuracy.
• Perform literature searches to identify peer-reviewed papers containing pharmacogenomics, pharmacokintetic and/or pharmacodynamic information.
• Compile and create educated summaries of the literature and drug pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic pathways.
• Create and update curation SOPs and website documentation.
• Assist development and curation teams with designing and testing website UI and functionality, and curation pipeline development.
• Quality control of the PharmGKB website and knowledgebase.

The expected pay range for this position is $68,000 to $98,000 per annum.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Demonstrated excellence in writing
• In-depth training and knowledge of pharmacogenetics
• Prior experience with the PharmGKB
• Prior gene and/or variant curation experience
• Detail-oriented
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE (REQUIRED):
Bachelor's degree in scientific field and one year of related experience, or combination of relevant experience.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (REQUIRED):
• Solid analytical skills.
• Strong written and oral English communication skills.
• Computer skills, including word processing and spreadsheet applications.
• Ability to understand scientific literature, experimental procedures and their limitations, and current needs of the research community.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS*:
• Frequently perform desk based computer tasks, seated work and use light/ fine grasping.
• Occasionally stand, walk, and write by hand, lift, carry, push pull objects that weigh up to 10 pounds.
