Description
REPORTS TO: BUILDING ADMINISTRATOR AND PUPIL SERVICES DIRECTOR


JOB GOAL: To enable all students to reach their full educational potential by assisting in the evaluation of student educational needs as needed. To provide ongoing assistance to students and staff in promoting a positive social and emotional climate for staff and students.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:


1. Assess the educational needs of students through appropriate diagnostic procedures, including formal and informal assessments (Special education, functional behavioral assessments, non-special education, early entrance, etc.).
2. Conduct appropriate evaluations, recommend interventions.
3. Case manage all initial special education evaluations (aside from speech-only evaluations).
4. Conduct brief individual and group intervention for children with an identified need.
5. Consult teachers, parents, administrators, community agencies and non-school staff regarding the educational and psychological needs of all students.
6. Assist in the development of intervention plans for students (CARE team/Child Study), review progress monitoring data, and recommend plan revisions as needed.
7. Participate in/and or facilitate IEP-team meetings and other conferences to assist the placement of students, program review and revision and other matters within the scope of IEP team meetings.
8. Serve as a consultant on mental health topics for school district staff as requested.
9. Educate teachers and parents about training and expertise of school psychologists.
10. Prepare and submit required reports in a timely manner on all students referred for evaluation.
11. Perform duties in a professional manner.
12. Establish rapport with staff, students, and parents.
13. Participate in development, implementation, and evaluation of district and school improvement projects (RtI, PBIS, culturally responsive practices…)
14. Participate in staff, community and interagency meetings.
15. Provide inservice training to various school personnel, when needed.
16. Review research intended to assist in the improvement of instruction and report on and promote the effective use of the research.
17. Seek continued personal growth in the field of school psychology and education in general.
18. Assist professional staff and parents in the identification of and provision of services to students eligible for enrollment in the district's gifted and talented program.
19. Supervise psychologist interns as assigned (voluntary).
20. Conduct suicide risk assessments according to district policies.
21. Respond to building/district level crises as requested by the Director of Pupil Services or administrator.
22. Perform such other duties as may be determined by the administrative staff within parameters of the master agreement, Board of Education policies, state statutes, and administrative rules.
