QUALIFICATIONS:
A current unrestricted Colorado RN license A Bachelor's Degree in Nursing Current Special Services Provider's license-School Nurse through the Colorado Department of Education; or must meet the requirements to obtain this license Current certification in CPR-BLS At least 2 years of nursing experience preferred in hospital or pediatric setting 1-2 years of school nursing experience preferred but not required ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Follows charter school institute policies and procedures and maintains strict confidentiality. Demonstrates effective written and oral communication skills. Evidence of ability to establish and maintain effective, cooperative relationships with school personnel, students, and parents. Demonstrates understanding and empathy necessary for working with students. Supervision of health aides. Primary resource for care of ill or injured students. Organization and management of health rooms and health records. Monitors immunization status of students and promotes compliance with Colorado immunization Laws Monitors accident/incident reports for school safety issues DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Direct Service Identify health needs of students Develop health care plans for students as needed Implement health care services, providing primary care for students Establish screening programs for various health problems. i.e., vision and hearing Oversee immunization compliance and reporting to state Develop procedures for crisis intervention for acute illnesses, injuries, and emotional disturbances Delegate medication administration and provide training for non licensed personal Attend Health Care Plan meeting, IEP, and 504 meetings as needed with student services and parents Must be able to call parents to talk about their students health needs Be willing to cover health technician in the event of an unplanned absence Consultation Function as part of an educational team in the development of the IEP (Individual Educational Program) and 504's. Cooperate with other agencies and professional workers Collaboration with administration regarding illness outbreaks, communication with parents and reporting to health department III. Provide training, delegation and supervision of health techs and other staff. Write and maintain protocols for Health Services Program IIII. Diagnosis and Planning
Assists in the identification and programming for students with special health needs Plan intervention consistent with the Individual Educational Program (IEP) Develop Individualized Health Care Plans.
