McHale Landscape Design is searching for the next great Safety Manager
for our Human Resources Department to support all company regions .
The Safety Manager will develop, coordinate, and implement occupational health policies and procedures to promote and ensure effective safety operations in the organization. This full-time position reports at 6:30 am to the Upper Marlboro office daily (Mon-Fri).

McHale Landscape Design is a residential landscape architecture company and design-build firm dedicated to designing and constructing extraordinary residential gardens, pools, outdoor living areas, and home additions. Since 1981, the firm has designed, constructed, and planted residential projects throughout D.C., Maryland and Virginia, including more than 300 award-winning landscapes.
What a Safety Manager does:
Plan, implement and coordinate safety programs, including conducting Tailgate Meetings
Assist with implementing policies to streamline processes
Visit all company locations and job site visits to ensure safe work environments
Maintain proper organization of safety supplies
Available in the mornings interacting with field personnel employees, answering questions, resolving problems, and distributing safety supplies as needed
Monitor vehicle /trailer cleanliness at all locations
Monitor Speed Alerts - Maintain proper organization and communication regarding violations, including disciplinary action (meetings and documentation)
Driver Complaint Calls - Follow up with any complaint, document and report all complaints to appropriate supervisors.
Coordinate and conduct driving tests for all Non-CDL drivers
Accident Reports - Document, communicate, report, and maintain files, including, communication with Insurance Providers
Workers' Compensation-Manage the process from start to finish, including communicating injuries, completing and submitting reports and claims, organizing and submitting invoices, etc....
OSHA Compliance, including maintaining OSHA 300 Logs
Tool equipment report- inventory and quality of tools organized by crews
Participation in the recycling process and identifying improvements
You will be a great fit if you have:
Bachelor's degree in Health and Safety, Safety Engineering, Environmental Health, or related field required or equivalent experience
5 or more years in a safety-related role
Experience in residential landscape preferred
Proficiency in Microsoft Office
Strong interpersonal skills
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Time Management/Organization skills
Attention to detail/Accuracy
Team oriented/Collaborative
What we offer:
Starting Annual Salary, $75,000+ (compensation is based on qualifications and experience)
