RN Supervisor, Informatics Allen Hospital - Waterloo, IA Full-time, Daytime Hours Responsible for supervising the daily activities of the department utilizing quality and cost-effective principles to address operations, staffing levels and employee relations. Responsible for the oversight of the Informatics program at UnityPoint Health Waterloo, which includes UnityPoint Health Allen Hospital, UnityPoint Health Marshalltown, and contracted sites. This role ensures support of the EMR, virtual nursing program, and other clinical and nonclinical systems as assigned related to adoption, implementation, support, optimization, change management, communication, issue management, business continuity, and downtime recovery. Displays vast knowledge of a wide variety of clinical software applications and provides leadership in various clinical decision making related to information systems.
Leadership Prioritizes, reassigns and redistributes work, to include scheduling and delegating workflow in an organized manner. Reviews/reassigns assignments based on continuity and skill level of the team member. Coordinates scheduling and maintains appropriate staffing levels and effectively communicates with others to ensure staffing requirements are met. Collaborates with Manager/Director to ensure unit-based orientation and training of newly hired team members is complete. Collaborates with Clinical Educators to ensure and coordinate the communication of EMR related changes in the provision of staff education/in-services/specialized skilled training programs including competences. Collaborates with the Manager/Director, effectively resolving complex situations, such as complaints and crises as they occur within the department. Employee Development Evaluates and guides staff through coaching and provides immediate feedback and responds to difficult inquiries and problems. Demonstrates the ability to fairly and consistently interpret, apply and follow personnel policies/procedures. Provides feedback and input to Manager/Director for ongoing performance management. Completes and issues performance evaluations with input from the Manager/Director. Performance Improvement Collaborates with the Manager/Director to complete employee and customer rounding to meet standards. Assists Manager/Director with follow-up on incident reports, performance improvement action plans and implementation of plans, monitoring of supplies/distribution and chart audits. Completes appropriate reports as delegated by Manager/Director. Operational Excellence Facilitates effective collaboration and communication with leadership and end users to ensure smooth implementation of new functional elements, applications, and major system updates. Guides the development, implementation, support, maintenance, and enhancements related to utilization of the electronic health record and other applicable clinical applications in alignment with system initiatives. Facilitates the involvement of staff on local or UPH committees and performance improvement initiatives as needed or requested. Acts as liaison to rural affiliate hospitals and between nursing, physicians, support services and Information Technology regarding the electronic medical record in order to ensure a safer, more efficient system that will enhance patient care delivery. Associates Degree in Nursing Clinical background with minimum two years' experience in hospital, physician practice, or education training role. Current license in the state of Iowa or meets criteria established by Iowa Board of Nursing. Valid driver's license when driving any vehicle for work-related reasons. Advanced knowledge of field, in-depth knowledge of the "why's". Ability to maintain current professional expertise. Ability to lead and appropriately delegate tasks to team members. Exhibits discretion and sound judgment in all aspects of the job. Promotes positive interpersonal relations and serves as a role model within the department and with hospital personnel. Writes, reads, comprehends and speaks fluent English. Effective communication and presentation skills.  Multicultural sensitivity. Proficient in Microsoft Office, Sharepoint, and applications used to provide support to remote locations. Customer/patient focused.
