Position Summary The purpose of the Cluster RN position is to delegate certain nursing tasks, which may include medication administration, to unlicensed assistive personnel (UAP) whom the nurse believes has the knowledge and skill to perform such tasks, taking into consideration training, cultural competence, experience and community policies and procedures. The RN maintains accountability for all tasks delegated to a UAP in accordance with all applicable laws, regulations and facility policies.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities · Ensure the CAPLICO Core Values and Code of Conduct are adhered to at all times.
· Ensure compliance with Resident Rights and HIPAA policies at all times.
· Assists with offsite assessments to ensure timely admissions.
· Assists with reviewing referrals to limit liability and to push the boundaries of what can be provided clinically in the AL environment.
· Assists communities to get caught up on evals/ISPs, etc.
· Writes state reports.
· Fills in as the Wellness Director as needed.
· Assists with onboarding, training, and supporting new Wellness Directors.
· Assists with onboarding, training, and supporting new Wellness Coordinators.
· Teaches the CBRF state certification classes.
· Covers vacation times for Wellness Directors.
· Assumes the authority, responsibility, and accountability of the RN Delegator.
· Sits in on family meetings and care plan meetings and assists with difficult and challenging residents, families, and situations.
· Assists during State Surveys.
· Assists with CCA Audits and CCA Audit Preparation.
· Assists with survey readiness and compliance thought the year.
· Visits each location weekly.
· Coordinates marketing efforts with the marketing team.
· Observes and teaches infection control policy and acts as a resource during outbreaks.
· Maintains current educational records of classes and in-services conducted, to include attendance and performance of each attendee.
· Partners with the Executive Director and Wellness Director to maintain clinical excellence.
· Understand all applicable laws, rules and regulations that affect the delegation process and ensure compliance within the community.
· Complies with the Five Rights of Delegation to be sure that any delegation is: the right task, under the right circumstances, to the right person, with the right directions and communication, and under the right supervision and evaluation.
· Determine when and what to delegate based on the community setting, the residents' needs
and condition, the state/jurisdiction's provisions for delegation, and the community policies and procedures regarding delegating a specific responsibility.
· Ensure UAPs have the appropriate knowledge, skills, and competency to accept any delegation.
· Responsible for planning, scheduling and conducting training and education specific to the delegated responsibilities for unlicensed staff.
· Evaluate competency of unlicensed staff for each delegated task on a continuous basis.
· Observe and teach infection control, safety, and resident rights policies and processes as they relate to the respective delegated tasks.
· Continually assesses the training program to validate the approved program is being implemented.
· Maintain current education records of classes and in-services conducted, to include attendance and performance of each attendee.
· Partners with the Executive Director to evaluate the delegation process to ensure compliance.
· Promotes a positive culture and work environment for delegation.
Supervisory Responsibility
· Exercises administrative and functional supervision over all unlicensed assistive personnel to whom tasks have been delegated.
