Risk AnalystThis individual will work closely with members of the Linear Equity Risk Group and initially have responsibility over creating / running reports, automating processes, building analytical tools, and performing ad hoc analyses as needed. The intention is for the responsibilities to gradually transition to full engagement with senior management, ownership of Portfolio Manager relationships from onboarding interviews to ongoing risk analysis, and collaborating with other functional groups within the firm.ResponsibilitiesInitially, prototype and implement risk dashboards and other tools/reports that improve risk transparency over equity product areas at MillenniumWork on prototyping explanations of P&L driversThe role has the potential to grow into full risk coverage of the firm's strategy in these product areas, including:Interviewing prospective PMs and setting up and managing risk guidelinesEvaluating trade ideasMeeting and communicating with PMs on regular basisClose monitoring of risk and PNL drivers across the portfolios under coverage responsibility, and direct communication with management when these grow beyond established tolerancesQualificationsThe candidate should have a quantitative educational background (e.g. statistics, econometrics, finance, data science)Excellent SQL, Python (or R), and Excel skills a must; familiarity with Tableau a plus.Experience working with large datasets (millions of rows) a plus.Familiarity with financial markets (equities in particular) would be helpful, as would prior experience in a risk management group or in trading operations.High sensitivity to details, strong sense of urgency and strong organizational skills. Ability to reason through and solve open-ended questions.Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills; ability to communicate with traders and senior management.The estimated base salary range for this position is $70,000to $160,000, which is specific to New York and may change in the future. Millennium pays a total compensation package which includes a base salary, discretionary performance bonus, and a comprehensive benefits package.
