The Maintenance Technician position is responsible for performing preventative maintenance and responding to facility and manufacturing equipment maintenance & repairs. The individual is expected to work with production leadership to improve equipment and system reliability and support continuous improvement efforts. Additionally, the tech will participate in and support the installation of equipment or manufacturing systems.
Responsibilities:
Properly prepare and maintain all production equipment and facility systems to assure peak operational efficiency is maintained.
Troubleshoot equipment and system issues in real-time and perform repairs and maintenance.
Provide hands-on support with solving daily production issues as well as supporting continuous improvement processes.
Responsible for facility maintenance. Execute minor construction projects needed to address facility or production equipment modifications.
Conduct preventative maintenance for all equipment and systems, including assisting in the management of spare parts inventory.
Assist and teach packaging technicians basic preventative maintenance procedures and adjustments to settings to improve efficiency.
Partner with production line leads to meet production goals, by troubleshooting and identifying root cause issues and corrective actions in order to prevent reoccurrence.
Assist during equipment tear down, sanitation and reassembly process to ensure proper execution of procedures and minimization of downtime or changeover process time.
Maintain proper documentation and record keeping as assigned.
Must work in a safe manner and comply with all health, safety, security, and emergency requirements. Assess workplace safety and coordinate with the management team to recognize and remedy potentially unsafe conditions.
Comply with all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's), and any/all established processes, whether established by the manager, by the company or by law. Works with the management team to resolve any known conditions potentially affecting food safety or product quality.
Qualifications:
3 years minimum maintenance technician or maintenance mechanic experience, preferably in manufacturing environment.
Comfortable learning new equipment and mechanical systems and troubleshooting under pressure.
Knowledge of the practical applications of engineering and systems technology. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of food manufacturing.
Working knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and air system as well as PLC (Programmable Logic Controls) applications.
Advanced electrical troubleshooting skills, fabrications skills including sheet metal, woodworking, welding (stainless, sanitary, and steel).
Strong working knowledge in commercial electricity - 220v and above
Heightened awareness of machine and workplace safety precautions and hazards for self and others.
Prior exposure or certifications in GMPs and HACCP application. Familiarity with SQF policies a bonus.
Self-directed, personally motivated with strong attention to detail.
Demonstrate desired traits of a leader within the company including calm, kind, positive and can-do attitude.
Team player able to work well with others and contribute to a positive work environment.
Able to work in a fast-paced environment, while focusing on meeting or exceeding expectations.
Excellent attendance and performance track record.
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and occasionally 75 lbs.
Ability to stand for long periods of time on concrete floors and ability to continuously be active including but not limited to: walking, stooping, bending, reaching and crouching.
Ability to perform all essential functions and physical demands of the position.
