Job Overview The purpose of this position is to interact with our guests, support team members, and ensure guests have a great experience when dining at the resort. Bar Backs are responsible for positive guest interactions while serving guests in a friendly and efficient manner. At all times, bar backs are expected to be attentive to our guests' needs and provide them with a welcoming, comfortable, and elevated dining experience.
General Responsibilities · Perform preparation tasks as the business requires such as: restocking garnishes and the bar, cleaning and organizing, polishing glassware, etc.
· Remain informed of current menu items and options, updates, contents of specials and regular menu items, and items the restaurant and bar have 86'd.
· Assist bartenders in preparing drink orders (i.e. pouring beer and wine) for service to bar guests and other server's tables as the orders are placed.
· Obtaining revenues, issuing receipts, accepting payments, returning the change.
· Performing cleaning tasks as needed or directed by supervisor.
· Fill in for absent staff and assist with special events as the business requires.
· Extend warm and welcoming greetings to all guests of the Resort.
· Adhere to grooming and appearance standards consistently.
· Understands and can communicate products and services available at the resort.
· Knowledge of when stop serving guests if they appear to be intoxicated as per OLCC regulations
· Assist bartender with all duties as requested including but not limited to:
o Check ID of customers to verify age requirements for purchase of alcohol or to sit at the bar.
o Clean glasses, utensils, and bar equipment.
o Take beverage orders from serving staff or customers seated at the bar.
o Properly store and secure alcohol daily.
o Assist with closing tasks when necessary.
o Restock bar with service items.
· Comply with all policies and procedures set forth by the Running Y Properties Employee Handbook.
· Perform all other duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications Education: · High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Experience: · Previous bar or restaurant serving preferred.
· Excellent oral communication skills and positive interpersonal skills required.
· Must speak English fluently and be able to write basic English.
· Must be able to multi-task and work well under pressure.
License/Qualifications: · Must be at least 21 years of age
· Food Handlers Card
· OLCC Certification
· Valid Oregon Driver's License

Discretion / Independent Judgment This position does represent the company in handling complaints, arbitrating disputes or resolving grievances, as a Bar Back you will be expected to work with guests and visitors to ensure satisfaction. A Bar Back will have to take initiative and get creative in resolving guest challenges and involve a supervisor only when previous methods have been unsuccessful.
