BASIC FUNCTION:
The position is a Research Scientist in the Molecular Imaging Lab, Department of Radiology
The candidate needs to be an experienced scientist in both
(1) MRI/MRS with strong instrumentation skill, proficient with both operation and maintenance of software and hardware of MRI machines
(2) AI applications in imaging processing.
The candidate will coordinate research performed in the Molecular Imaging Laboratory and will provide expertise in imaging methods and experimental designs.
The candidate will also organize training sessions and workshops for researchers interested in using the MRI, PET/SPECT/CT, and optical imaging instruments.
SUPERVISORY ACCOUNTABILITY:
Involves no responsibility or authority for the direction of others.
NATURE AND SCOPE:
Internal contacts include department head/chair, faculty, staff, researchers and students at the College and school levels. External contacts include collaborators, research scientists and students.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Work on developing imaging methodologies to study the pathophysiological changes following diseases progression and after treatment in small animals.
Perform various imaging methodologies, including MRI, Optical, PET/CT/SPECT, and histology quantifying pathophysiological changes transpired in vivo.
Plan and coordinate medical imaging analysis utilizing machine learning technique and algorithm for advanced and comprehensive research projects.
Assist in conducting literature reviews needed to successfully complete Molecular Imaging Lab sponsored projects.
Conduct workshops to train students and staff working with various imaging modalities and make presentations regarding the research projects.
Assist daily operation in the Molecular Imaging Lab. Perform administrative work in support of research objectives, develop and monitors project budget and authorize expenditures of project funds.
Design, fabricate, repair and/or operate research equipment for the development of research data as required.
CORE COMPETENCIES:
Ability to operate and conduct research using the following imaging instruments: MRI, Optical, and PET/SPECT/CT machines.
Ability to develop and write manuscripts, make presentations, and grant applications. Competence in both oral and written English.
Ability to establish and maintain effective and harmonious work relations with lab members, university officials, and research collaborators.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
The candidate should have a PhD degree in Physical Sciences, Biomedical Engineering, Radiology, or Imaging Sciences, demonstrated experience in performing imaging experiments on small animals and an ability for independent research.
Interested in performing in vivo/ex vivo imaging experiments of animal models of various diseases, behavioral tests, histology, and imaging processing is required, as well as the desire to collaborate with colleagues in various diverse scientific disciplines.
Possess excellent interpersonal and organizational skills, and stellar communication skills with fluency in both spoken and written English.
