Georgia-Pacific (GP) is seeking a highly motivated Research Scientist to join our Technology and Innovation Center (T&IC) in Memphis, TN. As part of T&IC, you will support GP Cellulose's R&D efforts, focusing on product development, innovative applications, and advanced analytical chemistry tools. In this role, you will troubleshoot customer issues, collaborate with team members, execute experiments, analyze data, and maintain equipment. At T&IC, we support GP Cellulose's research and development efforts towards product development, expanding new applications, and provide knowledge through advanced analytical chemistry tools and methodologies. What You Will Do Take ownership of research projects, including planning, prioritizing tasks, and meeting deadlines. Learn and apply pertinent cellulose chemistry principles to facilitate the development of innovative solutions and technologies in the field of cellulose-based materials. Work safely and collaboratively in a high-performance, fast-paced environment which includes interaction with cross-functional teams to uncover new opportunities and deliver unique solutions. Utilize wet-chemistry techniques to perform routine and non-routine testing, method development, and analysis in accordance with established protocols and industry standards. Analyze research findings, interpret complex data sets, and generate comprehensive written technical reports and lab test summaries. Communicate results effectively to stakeholders, both verbally and in writing. Identify and protect intellectual property rights related to research findings. Work flexible hours to include overtime as business needs require. Demonstrate the ability to safely and occasionally lift objects weighing up to 30lbs as required for specific tasks or projects. Bachelor's degree in chemistry, analytical chemistry, organic chemistry, or a related field. Experience working in a laboratory or R&D setting. Willing and able to travel up to 25% of the time. Willing and able to travel up to 25% of the time. What Will Put You Ahead Pulp and Paper Chemistry experience. Master's degree in a Pulp and Paper Chemistry or a related field.
