Responsibilities Develops scientific research projects and acts as a principal investigator or co-principal investigator. Researches and stays current with project-related scientific literature. Sets up new methods or assays to accomplish scientific objectives. Identifies and implements creative solutions to overcome problems. Organizes, interprets data, and derives study conclusions. Manages and trains research staff to achieve research goals. Collaborates with internal and external investigators on multiple research projects ensuring scientific significance and feasibility. Summarizes results of clinical studies in the form of scientific abstracts and manuscripts. Serves as a resource to provide clinical and scientific information needed for various initiatives. Contributes to teaching activities by preparing and presenting educational seminars. Assists with grant preparation by researching background, significance, and planning statistics. Attends national conferences and presents results of clinical studies. Maintain and culture cancer cell lines and organoids Perform experiments to evaluate drug efficacy and toxicity Prepare and maintain laboratory reagents and supplies Record and analyze experimental data Contribute to the preparation of scientific manuscripts, posters, and presentations Maintain a clean and organized laboratory environment Follow laboratory safety protocols and procedures Performs and directs specialized and complex lab tests, experiments, and surgical procedures for studies. Assists the Principal Investigator in the design, implementation, and performance of new protocols and procedures as well as the modification of existing techniques. Reviews scientific journals, abstracts, and other literature for information concerning experimental procedures. Makes advanced statistical calculations, analyzes data, and prepares reports summarizing research results. Operates complex and highly specialized laboratory and surgical instruments and equipment. Instructs others in their use. Maintains a log of supplies used in procedures. Maintain compliance with regulatory requirements. Eg. IACUC, IBC. May supervise, train and review the work of laboratory personnel. May prepare equipment and rooms for studies. May assist with preparing budgets. Problem Solving This position may be involved with problems requiring modifications of scientific methods. This position is required to efficiently manage several research coordinators and associates as well as to allocate resources to address the needs of ongoing clinical trials.

Often: Bending, reaching overhead, lifting The staff member must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on his or her assigned unit. The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of life span growth and development and the ability to assess data regarding the patient's status and provide care as described in the department's policies and procedures manual.

Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in biology, chemistry or other scientific discipline in a related field plus four years of experience or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience) required. Demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills also required.
