Job summary
The applicant will be trained to work mostly independently to design and research projects.The applicant will provide supervision and guidance for students and other personnel.Work involves characterization of RSV vaccines, design and optimization of experiments for analysis, and optimization of assays to better understand host responses to inflammation and viral disease.

Responsibilities
• Planning and executing data analysis and summarizing results. This includes characterization of vaccine candidates, optimization of RSV immunogens and adjuvants, design and optimization of experiments to analyze vaccine outcomes, execution of various assays to evaluate outcomes, molecular biology optimization, and response to emerging infectious diseases.• Laboratory management. This includes establishing and editing SOPs, providing guidance on SOPs, aiding and performing autoclaving, glass washing, stock ordering, inventory organization, preparation of solutions, and equipment maintenance. Provides training to graduate students and others in these areas.• Maintaining lab notebooks, training students, preparing/reviewing manuscripts.
Requirements
• Requires at least a baccalaureate degree in the field. Please contact your Human Resources office for an evaluation of education/experience in lieu of the required minimum qualifications.• Will perform sterile techniques, follow existing lab SOPs, have good communication, willingness to learn and develop new competencies.• Sitting or standing for extended periods of time. Lifting up to 40 lbs. unassisted.
