Research & Innovation Chemist Bristol, PA Full-Time M-F, 1 st Shift 6mo contract (potential to extend) Compensation: $31-35/hr Kelly is looking for a Research & Innovation Chemist to work with our client who focuses on developing specialty additives that support the production and performance of waterborne polymer dispersions and Coatings formulations. The Research & Innovation function (R&I) leads the company into new growth territories with breakthrough innovation to generate new products, applications and processes in the field of sustainable chemistry. : The Research and Innovation (R&I) Technology team supports the business in new opportunities by developing sustainable chemistries and processes that create value. The R&I Technology team develops new surfactants, monomers, and natural polymer molecules and provides scale up and process support for the development of these new molecules, as well as, supporting process improvement efforts for existing manufacturing processes.
Key Responsibilities Understand and respect all site safety rules.
Maintain good laboratory practices - includes working in a shared lab environment with other scientists, accurately documenting work done
Proactively support the development of new molecules and processes in different disciplines, such as Organic / polymer chemistry, chemical reaction engineering, mixing,
Perform lab-scale experiments and perform routine characterization of molecules in order to obtain all necessary data for product / process development
Analyze the lab data acquired and efficiently communicate results internally
Develop simple process models (material balance, kinetics) based on experimental data.
Periodically summarize results and discuss conclusions with the project team and the Techno R&I team.
SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES
Understand and follow key safety policies and procedures for the site, including but not limited to the following: Emergency response / Crisis management / evacuation guidelines. Visitor Safety Policy. Housekeeping. Know the location of first aid and emergency response equipment, chemicals, and chemical documentation.

Requirements: Degree in science, preferably a Bachelor degree in Chemistry, Biotechnology, Chemical Engineering and Technology or process engineering
Theoretical & practical knowledge on performing chemical reactions
Interest in hands on laboratory work
Proactivity, autonomy and open-mindedness
Good written and oral communication skills
Ability to work on several projects
Be able to solve problems
**Training will be provided the first few weeks after start date.
