Under general direction of the Senior Transportation Planner in the District 2 Complete Streets Branch, the incumbent independently performs the more complex data analysis related to Geographic Information System (GIS) work in support of District 2 Division of Planning in support of all Project Initiation Development (PID) and associated programs development as well as support subsequent project development work in the various other programs such as Corridor Management Plans, Feasibility Studies, and support work generated by the Infrastructure Investment Jobs Act (IIJA). The incumbent will develop, retain, maintain, and update the data for various planning studies and plans related to development of Bicycle and Pedestrian Infrastructure (BPI) targets in the State Highway System Management Plan (SHSMP) and the PID and relevant Programs. The incumbent is the lead GIS person for the District Planning Division, with a keen focus on the PID Delivery, Complete Street and Active Transportation Programs, and works closely with other District 2 functional units, other districts, and HQ Department of Transportation Planning and Asset Management offices. The incumbent understands and conforms with policies, standards, and guidance from Caltrans Enterprise Data and Geospatial Governance while staying up to date on industry trends and applicable technologies such as scripting, security issues, authoring tools, graphic design tools, and new languages.

Working Conditions
Position located at 1657 Riverside Drive, Redding, CA 96007, Shasta County This position may be eligible for telework. The amount of telework is at the discretion of the Department and based on Caltrans's evolving telework policy. Caltrans supports telework, recognizing that in-person attendance may be required based on operational needs. Employees are expected to be able to report to their worksites with minimum notification if an urgent need arises. The selected candidate will be required to commute to the headquartered location as needed to meet operational needs. Business travel may be required and reimbursement considers an employee's designated headquartered location, primary residence, and may be subject to CalHR regulations or applicable bargaining unit contract provisions. All commute expenses to the headquartered location will be the responsibility of the selected candidate.
