Sr Research Data Analyst
The Department of Ophthalmology is seeking a Senior Research Data Analyst to work with the Principal Investigator Dr. Nakul Shekhawat in his research projects. Dr. Shekhawat's research program is focused on conducting prospective research to determine clinical, imaging, and genomic biomarkers to guide diagnosis and treatment of corneal diseases. As a core member of the clinical research team, the analyst will take a leading role in managing research internal review board (IRB) approvals, managing research documentation in accordance with good clinical practices and regulatory guidelines; performing data entry; screening for eligible patients at Johns Hopkins; approaching patients for performing study recruitment and obtaining informed consent; performing imaging on study participants; obtaining and tracking specimens; and helping with preparation of manuscripts, presentations, and publications.
The analyst will be responsible for maintaining databases of study participants in REDCap, SQL, and other software; managing data integrity; performing data cleaning and audits; performing data management tasks such as combining multiple diverse data sources into a relational database; and performing statistical analyses including but not limited to descriptive statistics, regression modeling, longitudinal data analysis, and meta-analyses. She/he will also be involved in exploration and potential analyses of data from other sources, such as healthcare claims data or datasets from other clinical research studies. Specific Duties & Responsibilities Maintain databases of study participants. Perform data cleaning, data audits, data integrity maintenance, and other data management tasks. Perform statistical analyses including but not limited to descriptive statistics, regression modeling, longitudinal data analysis, and meta-analyses. Work with Core for Clinical Research Data Acquisition (CCDA) to extract and interpret data from the electronic health record and integrate into the study dataset. Explore the use of other databases (including insurance claims) Manage research internal review board (IRB) approvals. Manage research documentation in accordance with good clinical practices and regulatory guidelines. Screen for eligible patients. Approach patients for performing study recruitment and obtaining informed consent. Collect study information from study participants and other relevant sources. Perform data entry. Perform imaging on study participants. Label and annotate images. Maintain image library. Maintain data entry forms. Obtain, track, and manage storage and retrieval of biospecimens. Assist with preparation of presentations and manuscripts for publication. Perform other duties as required. Minimum Qualifications Master's Degree in related discipline. Typically require PhD. One-year related experience. Require highly specialized advanced knowledge, education and/or training in a specialized field of study to conduct research. Demonstrated ability on significant graduate project or additional doctoral education may substitute for experience to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula. Excellent oral and written English communication ability. Ability to interact with patients, health care providers, and trainees from diverse backgrounds. Special Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Knowledge of and proficiency in Stata, SAS, and/or R (proficiency with multiple statistical programs preferred). Experience with data collection and data management. Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook). Good time management skills to manage multiple projects efficiently. Good organizational skills. Strong self-motivation. Preferred Qualifications Competency with computer programming language: Python. Competency with database management language: SQL. Competency with statistical languages: Stata, SAS, or R. One or more years of biomedical or public health research experience.

JHU Equivalency Formula: 30 undergraduate degree credits (semester hours) or 18 graduate degree credits may substitute for one year of experience.
