The Research Associate will assist with research projects in the Neuromotor Control Laboratory under the direction of Dr. Robert Scheidt. The research conducted within the Neuromotor Control Laboratory seeks to understand how sensorimotor learning and control are impacted by neural injury (e.g. Alzheimer's, concussion, stroke), and the time course of recovery. Experience working with individuals with neurologic conditions (e.g. stroke). Communication skills for participant recruitment into research studies. Data collection and analysis skills with software programs such as Matlab and SPSS.
Duties and Responsibilities
1. Human Subjects Research involving kinetic and kinematic testing
2. Data curation and maintenance, ensuring data integrity and safety
3. Recruitment of participants (healthy controls and individuals with neurologic injury) into research studies
4. Organize and participate in project and NMCL meetings
5. Perform other duties and responsibilities as required, assigned, or requested.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
* Requires Master's degree in a related field or equivalent research experience (preferably in an academic setting); -Must possess strong communication and analytical skills; thorough knowledge of laboratory practices and procedures; -Ability to implement research projects; -Must be willing to work flexible hours as necessary.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
* Graduate training in Exercise Science or Biomedical Engineering
* Knowledge of the nervous system and musculoskeletal anatomy/physiology • Strong organizational skills for research projects
* Successful completion of Human Subjects training
* Experience conducting human subjects research
* Excellent written and oral communication skills in English
* Professional interaction with collaborators and participants; maintaining the integrity of Human Subject Data Collection Protocols
* Experience conducting research involving sensorimotor control
* Knowledge of collecting data with software programs
* Experience conducting research involving haptics and proprioception
