The Department of Microbiology, Biochemistry and Immunology is seeking a Research Associate to join their team. Under the general guidance of the Principal Investigator, the incumbent will be responsible for independently designing, conducting and analyzing experiments related to the lab's areas of interest, as well as provide training of staff/students as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
Education: This position requires a doctoral degree (PhD or MD) in molecular biology, biochemistry, cell biology, immunology, or other relevant areas of biomedical sciences.

Job Duties
Description of Job Duty
* Coordinates and participates in a variety of duties to assist investigators in data collection, verification, and compilation of research information related to various fields of research which may include behavioral, community-based and/or clinical research as requested.
* May assist in protocol design.
* Investigates and proposes alternative experimental procedures for consideration by a principal investigator.
* Assists in planning and scheduling research procedures.
* Under general supervision, performs a variety of defined research and laboratory tests and experiments according to prescribed protocols and assigned schedules. Sets up experiments as prescribed by a principal investigator.
* May be responsible for demonstrating and training others in the proper use/operation of laboratory techniques and equipment.
* May conduct literature reviews for related research developments and techniques and compiles findings.
* May monitor the handling, storage and disposal of hazardous substances.

Immunization Requirements
It is MSM's Immunization policy that all Prospective Employees are required to provide proof that they are vaccinated against COVID-19 prior to commencement of employment. If employment will commence during Flu Season, MSM requires all individuals to provide proof that they are vaccinated against Seasonal Influenza for the current Flu Season, unless granted an exemption. Failure to provide proof of vaccination for any required vaccines or obtain an exemption from MSM will result in rescission of a candidate's offer of employment or disciplinary action up to and including termination.
