As a Research Assistant, you will contribute significantly to two dynamic teams at a renowned research foundation based in Portland. This role offers a unique split focus, with equal time dedicated to our Scientific Resource Center and the Systematic Testing of Evidence on Marijuana (STEM) research team.
Responsibilities:
Scientific Resource Center (50%):
Engage in daily operations including processing topic nominations and maintaining communication with the AHRQ Medical Officer.
Coordinate the scheduling of meetings and manage a shared email account and electronic file structure.
Enhance internal procedures by developing and maintaining manuals and templates.
Systematic Testing of Evidence in Marijuana (STEM) Team (50%):
Provide comprehensive support for ongoing research projects, which includes systematic reviews and primary research studies.
Participate in outreach and networking activities, content development for our website, and preparation of grant applications.
Assist in developing databases for article selection and tracking, and support manuscript preparation including citation management and formatting.
Qualifications:
Required:
Bachelor's degree in social sciences, behavioral sciences, public health, epidemiology, health policy, health services, or a related field.
At least 1 year of experience in an academic or research environment.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with strong skills in Word and Excel.
Exceptional writing and communication abilities.
Strong organizational skills with a proven ability to manage priorities and meet deadlines.
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Preferred:
Master's degree in a related field.
2-4 years of research experience, particularly in an academic setting.
Experience in preparing manuscripts, with expertise in editing, citation management, and the use of reference management software such as EndNote.
Familiarity with scientific literature reviews.
Additional Information:
The primary job location is on the VA Portland Health Care System campus. The position includes a primarily remote work arrangement after an initial onboarding period. Candidates will need to provide COVID-19 vaccination documentation or apply for an exemption within 8 weeks of starting.
