General Description: The Chicago-Kent College of Law Library seeks an enthusiastic, creative, and service-oriented law librarian to join our Research and Instruction team as the Research and Instructional Services Librarian. The Research and Instructional Services Librarian reports to the Director of the Law Library. The Research and Instructional Services Librarian collaborates with other law librarians to develop, expand, and provide library services, including reference and research services for students and faculty, in-class instruction, and research tools such as research guides. The position is a full-time position and is available immediately.
The Chicago-Kent College of Law Library in the Conviser Law Center is located in downtown Chicago, one of the largest legal markets in the country. The Law Library advances the academic and scholarly success of students and faculty by providing future-focused training and professional research assistance to a diverse community. Education & Experience: MLS (or equivalent) from an ALA -accredited program or foreign equivalent and J.D. from an ABA -accredited law school. Two to four years of law library experience is preferred.
Knowledge & Skills: Required: Extensive knowledge of and proficiency with legal information sources and research methods. Experience performing legal research in an academic, government, or law firm setting. Evidence of strong teaching and presentation skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a dynamic environment. Excellent organizational, time-management, and analytical skills. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Demonstrated strong work ethic and commitment to excellent patron service. Willingness to learn and grow professionally. Preferred: Teaching or presentation experience. Experience in course or instructional design and development. Experience or interest in effectively integrating new technologies in teaching and learning. Experience designing, creating, and implementing programs and initiatives using law practice strategies and technologies. Knowledge of library-relevant technology applications, including LibGuides.
