Job summary
The Research and Extension Associate - Environmental Education and Research Center will support educational programs in environmental education and natural resource conservation.The position will collaborate with program staff to maintain facilities and ensure conservation practices are carried out.The Associate will develop and conduct Environmental Education programs.

Responsibilities
• Provide environmental education programming and activities for visitors of all ages at the EERC.• Serve as a resource on environmental issues and programming for teachers and various groups.• Lead outdoor hikes and other activities to demonstrate research and project-based learning.• Manage student groups and maintain effective communication with chaperones.• Assist research and extension professionals in sustainable and effective research projects.• Interact with visitors and center staff to provide assistance and maintain an inviting atmosphere.• Maintain professional partnerships that support the EERC and Environmental Education.• Conduct scientific investigations/sampling at KSU facilities.• Maintain and care for the EERC as assigned.• Travel to schools, project sites, and meetings statewide as needed.
Requirements
• Master of Science degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Studies, Biology, or a related discipline.• 1-3 years of experience in environmental education, environmental science, or related fields.• Must have or acquire KAEE Membership and Environmental Education Certifications.• Knowledge in the field of environmental education.• Experience teaching K-12 students in informal or formal settings.• Ability to lead groups in rough terrain and work cooperatively/independently.• Ability to promote and respect diversity.• Ability to use a personal computer and related software.• Effective oral and written communication skills.• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.• Ability to build and maintain forest trails.• Experience with implementing natural areas management, wildlife habitat management, or land management practices.• Ability to work outdoors in adverse conditions and lift up to 50 lbs.• Valid driver's license.
