Role Summary/Purpose The Relay Operator is an advanced position that requires proven sustained performance. This position performs various duties associated with the assembly, adjustment, and functional testing of relay assemblies used within the railroad Industry.
Essential Responsibilities Performs assembly, adjustment, and functional testing of various relay assemblies
Performs both self-inspection and inspection of team members relays. Provides guidance and ensures relay assemblies meet engineering specification
Collects and enters data into automated system using a computer
Utilizes hand tools and power drivers to assemble product. Use of calibrated gauges and sensitive measuring equipment during manufacturing process. Transports assemblies from one area of shop to another
Use drawings, schematics, and engineering documentation to ensure correct assembly of product
Crimp, cut, strip and solder as required
Qualifications/Requirements High School Diploma / GED
Vocational-Technical School or Military Technical training that includes electro-mechanical principles
Ability and willingness to work overtime as required
Ability to reference and understand the required manufacturing documents with minimal assistance. Proven ability to install and adjust all contact three groups, perform functional test, and sustain 7 relays complete per day with minimal defect or Relay QC qualified
Ability to inspect work using LED backlighting, and magnifying instruments
Ability to sit for long periods while making sensitive relay contact adjustments
Ability to consistently build a min of 7 relays in a 8hr shift upon completence of training.
Desired Characteristics Basic math skills to include addition, subtraction, multiplication and division
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work in a multifunctional team environment
