P rovide the delivery of culturally sensitive nursing care as assigned to a diverse patient population in the Metabolism, Endocrinology and Diabetes (MEND) Clinic and Endocrine Testing Unit at Domino?s Farms. Provide telephone triage and management, patient education, direct patient care with assessment, documentation with follow-up, and coordination with ancillary services and related departments. Participate as a member of the collaborative health care team, working closely with patients and their families. Provide functional supervision to assistive personnel. Perform phone triage, including assessment, screening, clinical advice, nurse visits (in person/ video visit), in-clinic hands on procedures, and other duties assigned.   Accurate and efficient documentation of nursing care.  Knowledge and appropriate use of internal and external resources, including UMH policies and protocols. Expectations  Demonstrated critical thinking skills through use of the nursing process, excellent problem-solving skills, and demonstrated ability to set priorities as indicated by interviews, references and/or performance evaluations. Demonstrated customer service, interpersonal communication skills, and the ability to build respectful relationships within and between units and individuals as indicated by interviews, references, and/or performance evaluations. Demonstrated knowledge and skills providing patient and family education and coaching related to chronic conditions including, but not limited to endocrine disorders and other related chronic conditions as indicated by interviews, references, and/or performance evaluations. Proficiency with typing and electronic health record documentation. Ability to manage complex clinical issues utilizing assessment skills, protocols, and evidence-based interventions. Prioritizes key nursing diagnoses to address physical and psychosocial/emotional areas. Practice is driven by theory and experience.  Independently develops, implements, and evaluates plan of care that recognizes subtle changes in patient condition and adapts plan as needed.  Utilizes standard unit technology and uses advanced technology as appropriate.  Utilizes computer for basic functions as well as reference on patient conditions and treatment.  Accurately assesses patient's/family's readiness to learn, organizes and executes individualized teaching plan, evaluates patient's understanding and modifies approach as necessary.  Seeks out additional patient education resources beyond unit.  Demonstrates ease in application of hospital policies and unit procedures and protocols.  Anticipates, identifies, and intervenes when there are concerns related to patient safety, staff safety and safe medication processes.  Consults documentation to identify trends in patient status and enhance continuity of assessment and ongoing nursing care. Possesses clarity on one's own values and how they affect interactions, relationships and 
boundary setting.  Individualizes communication based on assessment of the patients and families.  Incorporates patient/family in planning and implementing care.  Demonstrates empathy in interactions with patients/families.  Mobilizes appropriate resources in response to situations that have the potential to negatively impact patient/family outcomes.  Recognizes ethical issues and seeks assistance in addressing them. ? Readily able to delegate to UAP according to the 5 Rights of Delegation Facilitates continuity of care and nursing workflow through nurse to nurse delegation                                                                                                                                         
Current Licensure to practice nursing in the State of Michigan Minimum of three (3) years RN experience in the past five (5) years providing direct nursing care to adult medicine patients A minimum of two (2) years of RN experience providing care to adult patients whose primary diagnosis is Endocrine in nature, including patients with diagnosis of Diabetes Mellitus Proficiency with documentation of patient encounters in electronic health record, e.g., Epic Experience providing patient/family education Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication skills as evidenced by interviews, evaluations, and references V ? Minimum of 1 year, out of the last 5 years, experience in an Ambulatory Care Clinic
? Proficiency with MiChart inbasket management in electronic health record, e.g., Epic
? Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE) certification or willingness to obtain CDE within two (2) years of employment
? BSN

Hourly range for Registered Nurses $38.26-$59.35 / hour
Evening Shift Differential-$3.00 / hour
Night Shift Differential- $4.00 / hour
Day Shift Weekend Differential- $2.90 / hour
Evening Shift Weekend Differential- $5.90 / hour
Night Shift Weekend Differential- $6.90 / hour
Charge Nurse Differential- $1.00 / hour

Shift/Hours/Days: Day Shift; Mon-Fri, 8-hour shifts, some Saturdays may be required (nontraditional including further weekends/holidays commitment). Hours may be variable based on patient and volume needs, with flexibility required.
Location: Dominos Farms MEND Clinic with potential to work in other locations. 
All new employees will be expected to float to a designated unit(s) in times of low census.
This position is covered under the collective bargaining agreement between the U-M and the Michigan Nurses Association and the U-M Professional Nurse Council union, which contains and settles all matters with respect to wages, benefits, hours and other terms and conditions of employment.
