POSITION SUMMARY
Refinery Value Chain Optimization is seeking a motivated employee with interest in scheduling intermediate feedstocks into & out of the refinery, while working closely with business partners to identify and advance optimization opportunities. This position works across organizations, including but not limited to MPLX, Commercial Scheduling, Commercial Planning & Optimization, and Refinery Products Control.
RVCO views this as a growth opportunity for an employee seeking to gain knowledge in refinery logistics & economics, as well as the commercial side of the business. This position is located at the Catlettsburg refinery and will report directly to Economics & Planning Manager – CBG.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Primary responsibilities include planning/scheduling feedstocks (LPGs and gas oils) in/out of the refinery, managing propane/butane cavern seasonal inventories, and evaluating economic incentives on advantaged feedstock purchases for the refinery, while working closely with internal and external business partners to ensure value chain optimization.
Other responsibilities include:
Collaboration with Marketing.
Supporting projects that advance commercial flexibility and profitability.
Collaborating and supporting the Products Control group.
The position will work very closely with Commercial traders/schedulers and refinery-based personnel.
The ideal candidate should be a strong communicator with interest in learning refinery economics and MPC's commercial side of the business.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's Degree Required, Major Discipline Preferred: Chemical Engineering, or suitable alternative. (Education must be obtained/completed prior to start date)
Minimum of 3 years of refining experience in technical/Ops/lab role required.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel required.
Experience in refinery economics/planning or operations desired, but not required.
LP modeling (Aspen PIMS) proficiency desired, but not required.
Valid driver's license required.
Travel Expected: Less than 5%
Relocation: Available
